Do you like old stories/ myths/ history?

Hey everyone, I have something to share with you. Kick back for a second and lets talk.

Ok. So for the last 3 years or so, I've been writing up and posting summarised versions of famous old tales here on imgur. I've also done a bunch of write ups on history, mythical creatures, scientific subjects and archeology.

They've generally done quite well, showing that a lot of you guys really have an appetite for this sort of thing. Examples incoming.

For a while now I've been wanting to do more with these stories. I've wanted to take the idea a bit further. The more time I've spent engaged in these amazing worlds, the more I've wanted to make them accessible to more people. All of these stories represent our amazing shared histories, cultures and beliefs but I feel like they really don't get the star treatment totally deserve.

After all, in this age of exciting videogames and beautiful celebrities, who cares about, for example, Portugal's tales of discovery?

I've thought about creating some kind of website to publish these summaries to. I've considered spending money on advertising for my imgur posts so educators/ learners can quickly use them as a resource. I've even straight up just considered self-publishing some of them through Amazon (especially the mythical creatures ones as some kind of Grimm-style bestiary because that would be awesome).

It was suggested by one of my friends to start a channel on Youtube to re-tell these famous stories. It's cheap, it's accessible to pretty much everyone and you can include other stuff like audio effects, voiceovers and music to drive home the atmosphere.

When I brought it up in conversation here on imgur, specifically in regard to Dante, the response seemed to be overwhelmingly in favour of the idea. I got PMs asking me about when it started, where they can learn more about the subjects, offering to do artwork and voices. You guys were really REALLY game for this.

So here we go, I guess. I present to you my brand spanking new youtube channel, a place where you can watch documentary-style videos on old stories, history and mythology. I'm quite new to this video editing thing, so I'm hoping the quality and production speed will increase as I settle into a flow. I'm British (im sorry?), so If you can deal with Midland English accents, you should be ok.

I'm already planning out a project schedule which includes stuff like HP Lovecraft's tales, the Iliad/ Odyssey and Grimms Fairy Tales. I just picked up a compendium of Jules Verne stories that I'm considering as well.

FP Edit: Holy crap you guys, the outpouring of support i've been receiving for this has been incredible. Thank you so much for all your kind words, subscriptions, comments, likes. I'm sat at work with my boss staring at my phone lighting up every 5 seconds and I swear he thinks i'm just procrastinating (i am).
