Air Force sex is weird

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Before I realized this was a refueling, I was wondering why the bomber was taking a picture with a selfie stick.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

it can be both!!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Everything reminds me of him…

Meanwhile, in the cockpit....

And ol' Auggie Ben Doggie there was the art director on the WW2 sequence in Heavy Metal.

Hardware Wars!

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

One of the things I love about this site: someone posts something like that and reminds me of things I've forgotten over the years.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Why do I see faces in things

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

All around are familiar faces

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Because you have a human brain that likes to see familiar patterns.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Pareidolia is everywhere!

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah this guy has a reaaaal dumb face

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does the B-2 have a little image of itself on its nose so the pilots know which plane they're flying?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

Is that it IRL?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

See, I wanna say it looks CG b/c the light is not reflecting right, but these ARE matte black lol

I am trying to understand!

Top Gun for NES, fuck you.

Hence “B-2.”

3 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Partially from low production numbers. B-21 successor is supposed to be $700m/each, but we build 100 B-21 instead of 21 of the B-2.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The New B-21 so sexy.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Don't scratch the paint, don't scratch the paint, don't scratch the paint..."

3 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

If you get through the selection process to e allowed to fly a 2 billion doller aircraft, I don't think this phases you.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do not touch the trim!

3 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 1

"oops"

3 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

No biggie, that's just the budget for building 2 dozen schools

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How many schools and hospitals was that?

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 6

The Air Crash Investigation episode on that is very interesting.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Thank you, I wasn’t aware of that. I was able to track down a better HD version then what YouTube offered. My OnDemand only goes to S19

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is actually the most expensive crash in US Air Force history, this particular aircraft was named Spirit of Kansas.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Looks like that was about 10x the cost of most other large accidents which occurred in USAF history.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Spirit of Kansas' starving children more like it

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Is that the crash you could see on Google earth?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

IIRC this was because the tech cleaned a sensor basically

3 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

It was moisture buildup in some sensors after "heavy, lashing rains".

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Tbh both surprised and not surprised that water in air data lines could cause this. I guess due to B-2 shape, can't have an actual AoA vane?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also unsurprising that water sumps are damn near useless in every pitot/static system, not just KCs

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No it had to have a special air speed sensor. TV show Air Disasters goes into much more detail. https://youtu.be/7Q7OW4RZAiM

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nobody

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, are they the 92nd Air Refueling Wing or the 141st Air Refueling Wing?

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Kinda both! When flying with the air force, it's the 92nd ARW. When flying with the air national guard, it's the 141st.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

yes.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The one on the left is the 141st, the one on the right is the 92nd. I wonder how many spares they actually have.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

For those who don't know, Top Gun (NES) you had to refuel mid-air, and it was among the most frustrating video game experiences of my life.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still have nightmares about this

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Fuck you for this.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I showed u my refueling probe plz respond.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck you

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

My friend doesn't get it. Was this a super difficult part of a game?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is Top Gun for the NES. The refueling and aircraft landings were notoriously difficult.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thanks for re awaking memories from my childhood of never having passed this.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Nice. I couldn't find a good gif for this. Now I have one. Thanks!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No problemo fam

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Slower, you slut.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I will never ever see the B2 as anything other than a danger dorito again in my life!!!!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When mommy and daddy plane love each other very much

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What happens if they hit turbulence?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's a bit easier once you're on the boom. You get a few more feet in either direction. I'll give you the classic military answer:it depends

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

this

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I guess that is also a pretty interesting demonstration that the boom is actively flown by the operator, right?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Opf….no thank you

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That is terrifying

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

is it in?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's crazy to me is how fast the fuel is transferred... 3800 liters per minute. That could fill your average aboveground pool in ~3 min!

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That’s a huge load

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's a huge bitch

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s what she said.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man the B-2 is a cool plane.

3 years ago | Likes 546 Dislikes 3

Probably still runs pretty hot

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

But what use is it these days. I feel like the a10 or drones are the way to go.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And a waste of taxpayer $$$ dollars. what a waste.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

It's one of my favourites. That, and the SR-71. Aviation is fascinating, even if I'm dumb and don't understand how complex it is.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

have you seen the Aquatinc SR71?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Anyone know what is inside the chevron shaped slot forward of the cockpit? Looks like some metal circles inside.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those are air data sensors. Each disk feeds air speed and pressure readings to four flight computers.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I wondered if it was only open when refueling, upward facing cameras, etc. seems like it would create turbulence and drag

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope; they're actually flush with the surface.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It looks like there is a vertical edge behind them, unless it’s covered. Could also be for scattering but those are usually Chevron V or W

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's amazing he gets to refuel B-4 he lands.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Other than price, why isn't the entire air force stealth aircraft?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are a variety of factors. Some of which being that we don't need all stealth aircraft. "Stealth" doesn't help in combat or logistics.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You say that but stealth air refuelers are starting to become necessary.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't know but it probably helps for air traffic control during training and domestic ops

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And the B-52's are rocking band

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

in the yard and one flew over when the air show was in town.... Couldn't have been more than two thousand feet up. Literally didn't hear it

3 years ago | Likes 108 Dislikes 0

Witnessed one flyover the Indy500. It felt really off watching something that size in silence. Beautiful & thankful it’s on my side.

3 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

I saw one there too, the National Anthem was wrapping up and people start pointing to the sky. It was right above us and never heard it.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

This is the reason I ironically missed one at a recent air show. It was too quiet lol

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same! I was under their flight path for the Rose Bowl Parade flyover.

3 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Same here. It was right above us and I didn’t hear it. Sounds like a gust of strong wind. Amazing and scary. .

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was in college, omw late to a football game, hear a mild hum so I looked up and a B-2 was passing just a few hundred feet above. Wild.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

So quiet

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The car passing by on the road drowned it out for a sec, which is bonkers at that distance.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

love these

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

B-21 is a stealthier smaller modern & more mission agile making it better for modern war. The b-2 will always have a spot on my heart.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My mother was AF when these first came out, she recalled she and the guys at the forecasting station being spooked by how quiet it is

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

"My mother was as fuck when this first came out..." I had to reread that several times I need some goddamn sleep

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

yeah, should've used USAF

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My friend was like "did you see the stealth bomber at the airshow?" I was like "what? No!" And he said "because it's stealth"

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Reminds me of this https://youtu.be/fgDDdbiBPes

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can we talk about how seamless that panel fits after it closes?

3 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

I'm more impressed by that than most of the other capabilities.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The B2 does a lot of kegels to keep it so tight.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I zoomed

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just the tip

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sometimes it’s a little difficult to work it in, but then there’s that little *pop*

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's the brown stuff on it that disappears all of a sudden?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Santorum

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And that neat little add-on feature is available for only $19.8 billion! It's a steal.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's sad that they will be retired in the next 10 years.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What's coming after that though?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Purely in awe of it aviation engineering genius, not its destructive might.. this, and the new B- 21 are my favorites. They are the only..

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

.. planes that humans have made that actually look futuristic and other worldly. What a leap in design, nothing else like it

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Take a look at the yf-23, it has the same vibes

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I really hope we don't need to use it

3 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Perhaps the greatest demonstration of how effective this aircraft is is that we never had to use it for what it was originally built for.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It can be used for non-nuclear missions.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And has been in Libya against ISIL IIRC

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still hope we never have to use it.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Almost as cool as universal healthcare and working infrastructure

3 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 20

Maybe next term... Next psycho rich barely there, late stage dimensia president

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We can have both! WE CAN HAVE BOTH!! We can have a bad-ass military AND all of those other things! We can support Ukraine AND have UHC.

3 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

That being said, the military is in need of serious reform when it comes to money.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

The Fed Gov spends 2X on HC compared to the mil. Reforming our HC system is the main obstacle in implementing UHC not the mil budget.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

How much moolah would be saved if Health Insurance companies were taken out of the picture?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

While you are not wrong, you have no idea what exactly is wrong with our military spending. It isn't necessarily the amount, more how it 1/

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/ is spent that is so fucked up. If you are interested, I could elaborate, though that will be a lengthy reply. 2/2

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We can do both! ??????

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

YES WE CAN.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

we don't need to do both

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

we need universal health care, we do not need to brutally enforce US imperialism abroad.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

While it has been used for that in the past, I think the Ukraine invasion shows us the world is not done with military action. Stability...

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

*coughing in untreated illness and medical bankruptcy* wow that absurdly expensive super weapon sure makes us great!

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Lol... down vote faries, but you're not wrong

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

1/ The sentiment is right but the anger is misplaced. The US already spends more tax dollars per capita on Healthcare than universal

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/ Healthcare type system countries. Literally Medicare is more expensive than universal Healthcare. Get mad at private hospitals, health

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

3/ insurance industry and drug companies. You can keep military spending and get universal coverage if you nationalize the delivery of it.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0
