Ok, last one for real. At least for tonight, lol.

After that he yelled "ARRRRRRGH!" and threw it up in the air. The bird flew away.

Smoke = Physical training.

When the song ended he laughed, yelled "Carry on!", and walked out.

I figured that meant yes and used the phone. I didn't get stomped so I guess I was right.

Good guy drill sergeant. He totally gave me polypro because I was freezing to death.

Well... It was good.

My DS was a notorious poon hound. We had reporters come to Benning to learn combat survivability and apparently he banged one. Some blonde, never got the name.

Ok, I'm out. Goodnight Imgur.

666 when I came. Woop!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Your DS sounds like a funny but intensely scary dude...

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

That's their entire purpose in life. Make bootcamp an enjoyable hell.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That describes pretty much every DS. They're pretty much all fucking hilarious.

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Ah, the creativity used by Drill Sergeants to fuck with you is infinite.

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 4

"fucking carry on, then" +1

11 years ago | Likes 2509 Dislikes 14

The ONLY proper response to someone who is drinking chocolate milk!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I hope to see this used more often in the comments from now on.

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Roger that

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

All I see is "Army bootcamp was way easier than Marine Corps boot camp"..Phone calls home? What is this summer camp?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I asked my training instructor, (Air Force basic) to describe his service dress ribbons, I really should've thought twice about my phrasing

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

He physically described every single one (color and design) for 20 minutes. In hindsight, I had it coming

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

"Well fucking carry on, then!" Read that in a British accent.

11 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

Definitely not British. That kind of shit is stamped with U.S.A.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Out-fucking-standing!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man I feel you. You see I played call of duty once and this guy blocked me in the corner with a riot shield! That ever happen to you?

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

All the fucking time! You gotta flashbang them hos and stab them in the back of the head.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Basic training at the time sucked but looking back it was pretty fun and funny.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well fucking carry on then. +1

11 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

These words will be a staple here huu

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Was it really good chocolate milk? Or did you just tell him what he wanted to hear?

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 4

Anything not salty is good during basic.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Chocolate Milk? In basic training? Shit would be ambrosia.

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

(Until you go for a six mile run immediately afterwards and puke it back up)

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Eh, my DS told me to eat everything in sight...I weighed 115, now I'm 204.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I was 128 lbs when I went to basic. 145 lbs when I left. 165 lbs after first tour. 180 lbs after second. 190 lbs now. Go Army!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This was 2005 btw...not last week.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Ah good Ole Fort Benning. Anyone remember the Stairway to Heaven march....anyone?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#4 - "IT'S - IT'S NOT LIKE I LIKE YOU OR ANYTHING!!"

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

WELL, FUCKING CARRY ON, THEN!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

DS-"Gump! What's your sole purpose in this army?" Gump-"To do whatever you tell me, drill sergeant!"

11 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 1

Fun fact: the german language dub trailer for Forrest Gump makes the DS sound like a shrieking nazi.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"WhydidassemblethatweaponsoquicklyGump." "Cuz you told me to, drill sergeant."

11 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Perfect.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wasn't it more like "WhyyyyyyyyyyyyyydidyouassemblethatweaponsoquicklyGump?!"

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ahh polypro.... my DI would only occasionally let us wear it... in the middle of winter.... (1/3)

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

MCT training cycle was in December, our combat instructors made is strip to our skivvies and mark time to the drummer boy song. Good times!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At mct? Haha damn. Our rifles had a peculiar ability there. They could fly!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And the time my Senior DI Would not let us get blue powerade because it was his favorite drink at the mess hall.... (3/3)

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

And the time my DI head shot a guy with his mail during mail call... (2/3)

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Had an old OC that used to raise moral by saying "Outstanding" or "Excellent" to anything. My favorite was; 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

2/2 "Can I quickly go to the latrine sir?" - "Number one or two?" - "T-two, sir" - "Exceptional"

11 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

That's hilarious

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

"Exquisite."

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Micronesians seem to have a much odder relationship with birds than I've ever imagined.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Every time I read something like this or stories from basic, I can never tell if the Drill Sergeants are being total cunts because they 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

actually care and want you to be the best damn soldier you can be, or they're being total cunts because they can be total cunts. 2/2

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Both. Being a DS is a tough job and requires a lot of very long days, and weeks. It'll turn anyone into a cunt.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Fair enough. Can't argue with that.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

A little from column A, a little from column B.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

So you're saying they become column C? :D

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Both. They have to be assholes to mentally and physically break you so they can try to mold you into a soldier.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

From my experience in the German army: Both. They were cool guys after basic was over but enjoyed yelling at people regardless.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I wonder how many have had to take time off due to yelling themselves hoarse? Or do DS's get voice coaching so that doesn't happen?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

1 while the kid was asleep, that the guy rolled off his bed and had a heart attack... + we could hear him over an F16 at takeoff...

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2 my TI was a small irish american... about 5'5... he took a week off after he yelled himself hoarse... he also scared a kid so badly

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The desire to post Marine Corps Boot Camp stories is SSOOOOOOOOO Tempting....

Semper

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My DI had us do "The Parris Island 500" with our towels on the deck around the racks. That was no bueno.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Someone didn't finish getting ready one day and the DIs dumped EVERY footlocker and tore the bedding off the racks and knocked them over...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We had all the locks, locked together when the DI's discovered we found out the ol' "leave your combo finished but closed" trick, haha

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

did similar at San Diego...under the racks too

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

One of my PFC's in Oki became a DI at SD. He was in that movie, Ears Open, Eyeballs Click! (Sgt Marquez in the movie)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fuck yes!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It'll make this post seem like holiday stories. It already kinda does

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Do you even need to ask

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

what are u just gonna change drill sergeant to drill instructor

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Aye, Aye, SIR!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Marine Corps boot camp is not only longer (13 weeks long), but it is also much more difficult based on stories I've heard of Army boot camp.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rah. Army makes me laugh.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. I'm addicted and can't get enough.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Absolutely!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes! My boyfriend was in recon - I'd love to show him!!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes please.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd be interested in seeing what boot camp is like now. We still had the old BDUs and black leather boots. Grad day was 9/14/2001 for me too

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not really.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hell yeah devil do it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From my experience in bootcamp: "what the hell are you doing?" "Drinking coffee petty officer" "you better start drinking it like a man!"

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Always :D

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Schmutz is good to. it is any goop that smears.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OUTSTANDING

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol chocolate milk in bootcamp....I would have had a knife hand through my skull.

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Quoting my buddy, who did 2 tours as a DI, "well, that's the Army, you know how they are..."

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Why?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Because it makes you weak.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Secure the knifehand. It's a kinder gentler Corps now. (I heard that at least twice a week back in the 90's, haha)

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, I was reading through this and was laughing at how easy he had it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Someone did a "stories from basic" series that covered all Branches even other countries militaries. Its pretty great.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Of course

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It is going to be about 10xs better trust me I know

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I already know all about that stuff, but it'd sure help my buddy if you could tell him some stories...

11 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

Yea, uh huh, your buddy

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Reading this only makes me realize DI's don't have any of that compassion

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's what I was thinking...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, my 13 weeks of fun at MCRD had tons of nice little stories like this. Would love to walk down memory lane.

11 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

My brother has endless stories. I love hearing them.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Boot camp's funny because it's miserable when you're there but it's hilarious in retrospect.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

13 weeks of hell. Graduation was sweet, as well.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seeing my future wife on family day was one of the best moments of my life. My mom almost tackled me a few seconds later.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

Jackass... you said that backwards. Hooah is the sound you make when you try to say OohRah with a dick in your mouth.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

oh, glad you know what it's like so I won't have to try it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Already

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was just thinking these seemed rather tame compared to my time at MCRD Parrish Island

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Why do they get to have Nintendo DS's in bootcamp these days?

11 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 2

Good fucking question.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

When i was in basics i bought myself one nintendo ds, played legend of zelda all day. Heheh. He was referring to drillsergeant tho

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 13

And we can see who's lying because no time in any basic are you able to get to a bx/px to buy a ds, let alone any time to play it.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

did not, i bought it impusively after going to the eye doctor to get my glasses. :>

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

IN NORWAY, for the record!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Because US govt successfully develop real life Pokemon for warfare. NDS is used to condition the soldiers before they receive their companio

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

I would legit join the army if they had pokemon.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'd join the army so fast if that were the case

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Plot twist: Your most compatible partner is Mr Mime

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ditto would be my first choice but I definitely wouldn't be sad with Mr. Mime. Psychic OPPPP

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but real life Mr Mime will be creepy AF. Also what if he get that skill to enter someone's dream?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...fucking Army and your easy ass bootcamp. YUT

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

If you say so. I've never been through Marine boot camp so I have no idea. Maybe you should apply the same logic...?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep, easy... one guy put an M16 in his mouth at a portapotty at a range, another used a wire brush to scrape off a tattoo after a H&W inspec

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

There are bad apples in every bunch. Doesn't mean Army Basic isn't considerably easier in comparison to Marine Bootcamp.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Most news outlets have proven that the mental/physical demands are harder at MCRD over all Army Boot camps.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The only way to know is to have someone go thru both; do you know such a person?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

https://youtu.be/N_TlXlo1YUQ

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are comparing Paris Island to Fort Jackson, that isn't fair and you know it... compare it to Benning.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As Basic Training is just a week away for me, I've been seeing a whole lot of Military posts lately...

11 years ago | Likes 695 Dislikes 6

PLEASE DONT GO!!!!!!! PLEASE I BEG YOU.

You should always hug your DSfirst thing in the morning, add a kiss if you really want to show him you have balls- Delta SEAL Ranger Cadet 7

11 years ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 2

Good luck :) my husband is in the infantry and he said basic was the hardest part for him. Just keep on going soldier ♡

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

word of advice: NEVER ARGUE WITH DS. just comply with what they say, even if you know its wrong. Also, there is not such thing as blinkerflu

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

If you get deployed, learn the damn language. No one fucking does this.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a week away for my bro too. What branch?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Remember: Drill SGTs are designed to be mean as fuck but damn good teachers. If you don't understand ASK. They'll teach. better to 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

get yelled at for not understanding DnC than to fuck it up and get everyone else in trouble.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you have a question, DO NOT ASK IT WHILE THE PLATOON IS WAITING TO BE RELEASED FOR PERSONAL TIME! Go with a buddy after you're released.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was the funny one & used to make my DS laugh to get out of doing stuff don't tho, it backfires sometimes.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So I wake up to this haha Thank you guys for all of the support and advice. and too make things clear, I'm going into the navy.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I recommend Malone 22, the Moving Target Range... best day in Basic.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait, I just realized, you might be going to Jackson and not Sand Hill... nevermind.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I leave May 26th for Benning. I'm not listening to anything y'all say! Haha

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You just asked for a lot of "advice". Which branch?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My best advice: remember the point is to break you down and build you back up. That fact alone got me through basic with a smile.

11 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

I'm in for the writing as well! My brother went through Boot 3 years ago. I wrote him every single day he was gone. :)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you want letters from a total stranger let me know!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Makes you kinda feel like they're watching, ammiright?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's your mos?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just remember, the real army isn't as bad as basic. Just stay motivated and maintain situational awareness.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Keep your mouth SHUT! Do not mumble, do not walk in there cocky, get the grin off of your face. Do what you're told to do & you'll be fine.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Get an Army tattoo before you go. That will show your DS you are dedicated.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just remember, the DS's will never hit you (when anyone else can see it)... I got kidney punched once for 'Wiggling in Formation'

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How was basic?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you are going to have fun. keep your mouth shut and do what you're told and it'll go by quickly

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The'll say this after the gas chamber; to not touch your eyes. You will immediately touch your eyes. DON'T TOUCH YOUR EYES

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

On cuz I saw Noone else doing it,and my buddy tried to help me but he just couldn't put it on!it seems forever till I finally got it.i was

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not smart then

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was worse for me because I didn't hear the instructions right so I took off the mask 10 mins earlier and immediately tried to put it back

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do not grab any 'souvenirs' from the ranges... one guy grabbed a 40mm TP round... idiot... I think he is still in Leavenworth.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best advice I got about boot camp: If your CC/DI/DS/whatever the AF has has to look at your name tag at graduation, you won basic.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not one, don't even listen to one of them. For your life please don't. The former chaplains assistant is coming out in me.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

GET HAIRCUTS OFTEN. every time i got smoked was because my hair was 'too long'

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just remember to have fun and show respect. Don't get depressed and don't be a blue falcon. Enjoy yourself, the real army isn't like basic.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't believe anyone in this thread. Also will lie to you while you are getting issued your gear before you are sent to your company.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember - everything you do will be fucking wrong. Even if it's right, it's fucking wrong.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never miss a chance to piss, shit, eat, or sleep. Follow instructions. DS is always right. Right place, right time, right uniform.

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

And never miss the opportunity to keep your damn mouth shut.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously. Volunteer for everything -you might get some shit work early on, but it will pay off bigger and bigger the more times you do.

11 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

If they ask if you like guns, you probably signed up for latrine duty

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Just not in your canteen, where the DS can see it.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

if he wants to drink his own piss, who are we to judge? he might become a SERE instructor one day

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bullshit. Always volunteer, but follow the mantra "never be first and never be last" in everything.

11 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 1

Agreed. If it's something you really don't want to do, you don't have the option to not volunteer anyway. You get volunteered.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Seriously volunteering is key,not volunteering will get you and your platoon smoked. Trust me. It sucks.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can confirm, best mantra.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Ammo duty was the best. You shot first and you got to relax because you have to "guard" the ammo. Good time to get to know some DS too.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Most of my battery sat in the sun while I shoved 5.56s into magazine in the shade. 10/10 best job ever.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

KP in Air Force basic was awesome. A day of washing dishes and eating ice cream.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Even if you give me time to eat and make me having better food, I wouldnt want to do it

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Bed aligner and shoe aligner. Pretty fucking easy and bought me some extra shower time.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I never had detail, I was a "student leader". 4 element, baby.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh heck no,I was assigned to the washing crew,I spent total 18hrs in the back scrubbing pans and cookware and worse thing is,I did it twice.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I sorted, I did it for 3 days straight (in med hold, what else to do). I liked it a lot.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fuck that, I volunteered for PG and got a shitload of unexpected perks for most of the cycle

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You wants perks without bullshit, you be the HOUSE MOUSE, not the goddamn guide. Eating the confiscated contraband when the DS deigns it so

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

que es PG?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

es el gato anos

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

no te creo

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lay low, don't be an idiot, don't be an over achiever. You will survive.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just get through the first three weeks. Not that bad.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Just keep your mouth shut and your ears open and you will be fine... it's not that bad

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Which branch are you joining?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

good luck man, im heading in July 14 it's gonna be so fuckin hot T___TT

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Prepare your butthole, private

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

What is your address? I will make sure to send you an alarm clock, the wind up type (no power required). You will want to wake up early.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

They let you use alarm clocks in basic? They never let up. We woke up to the sweet serenade of metal trashcan lids on metal lockers

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, its a joke, IE if someone actually brought one, or got one in the mail, the treatment of that soldier would be brutal.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

My blue falcon senses are tingling

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As I hear, you'll be joining the world's biggest meritocracy. Make of that what you will.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good luck to you! Division?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're going to have the time of your fucking life

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey, I'm headed off in a few months. Good luck!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dont think, just do.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Just remember, everything that happens in Basic is actually fucking hilarious. Just dont laugh.

11 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 1

Company commander caught me laughing at some ridic shit once. Had to stand in trash can yelling "HAHAHA BOOT CAMP'S A FUNNY JOKE" for hours.

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

See, now that's funny!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was the chow caller (have an amazing voice for it, and everyone knows me), and had a different TI come up to me and have me 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

3/2 let him know he told me to say this shit. They were both laughing a bit and had us all do pushups for a while.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

2/2 yell the most ridiculous and random shit. I had the entire area laughing. Our TI came out and yelled at me, then the other one...

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And remember be yourself. Now isn't the time to lie, be fake or "reinvent" yourself. You are who you are be that guy and have fun.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

holy fuck! yes!! best advice so far.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

stare at the ds for 5 solid seconds before responding to anything.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you are in air force, remember to yell out the flavor of protein bar before sitting during dinner so TIS can hear you

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As someone who was in basic about 10 years ago, please explain this.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No,this is a joke bc apparently a myth said apparently there was one time a senior flight told a baby flight whenever they get a protein bar

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What happened next?the whole shark pit came and smoke him out for next 10 mins.it was a prank, but I'm not sure how true the story is and i

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

During dinner, they have to slap the protein bar onto the table before sitting and yell out the flavor so TIs could hear u and you know what

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I never had protein bars available.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You know air force has extended meal time and gives out protein bar now because from the TIs,it's because trainees were having the enoguh

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*excuse me, not having enough nutrition was what I meant

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nutrition and they were having a lot of bone and health problem due to it,so basic training meal has gotten alot improved

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Heard the story has been circulating around for awhile

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you didn't see it first hand, it didn't really happen. Trainee Underground.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah I heard multiple variation of it and alot of recent grads have all heard it, I wish it's true though cuz that'd be hilarious btw you

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still in as you still currently serving?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You'll always be tired and hungry, but you'll pull through without a problem. Good luck and enjoy it!!!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I ship June 2! For split op in Benning

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

If you have ANY way of changing it so you can just do it all at once, instead of split try to. Just like school, hard to start with pause

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tru dat. Double tru.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know, but I have no choice unfortunately.. I have college still (I'm a sophomore right now, 20yrs old) and I recently switched majors

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bring as little as possible. Toothbrush, toothpaste, extra socks. Anything else is just going to get lost, stolen or broken.

I was with 4th PSYOP and talked to some guys that knew "Skippy." Most common response to his name was, *headshake* "That fuckin' guy..."

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

now I'm curious about #27. what does Princess Di have to do with the british parachute regiment?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She may have at one point been the regimental royal.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

so an honorary title?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, in Canada we have members of royal families that are purely ceremonial. We never met our Princess Royal but we always drink to her!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This was awesome. Thank you.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Who's that?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I recommend grabbing their 'smokey the bear' hat... they love that!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

always be 15 minutes early for everything, always make sure you are at the right place, always be in the correct uniform, do not give your

11 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

Ya it's boot camp tho, so you don't have much a choice but to be overly early to shit

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah... if you're early, you're on time... if you're on time, you're late... if you're late, it better be because you are dead.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you're on time you're ten minutes late

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

+1 to everything he said! (Also the part of needing someone to write to. You can add me to that list as well)

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

...one day, always treat your weapon like its loaded and keep it on safe NO MATTER WHAT, don't get offended or take anything personal the

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

This is especially true... My Uncle who was a DSL would take people's rifles and then make everyone fall in!!!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Drill Instructors are there to teach you and prevent you from dying in the future and they do care about everyone, think of them as a bunch

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Make sure you get friendly with the instructors - they appreciate it because not many recruits have the balls to

11 years ago | Likes 285 Dislikes 3

this sounds like it could be good or bad advice

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is actually some of the best advice I've ever seen.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shut up and color. It's simple

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That cannot be stressed enough. It will save your sanity and your ass many times.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Also, tell your friends to decorate the envelopes to your letters... They love the creativity!

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Yes, especially hearts and rainbows... Makes every DS all warm and fuzzy to see how loved the trainees are

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, they love it when you show up wearing a branch appropriate t shirt, especially the one the recruiter gives you.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah, just learn their first names, they don't appreciate being too casual.

WHEREVER FAGGOT! GET OUT!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lulz c-call em sir. Call em sir. They love being treated as officers. Unless you are going to marines then bro is acceptable

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Don't call them sir in the Navy or Chairforce, you call them by their insignia. Sir is used for officers. You use petty officer or chief!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

... Air Force accepts Sir/Ma'am for anyone higher rank than you. No, it's not in the EFS, but try finding an Airman who doesn't.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They love it when you get physically close to them. It shows them that you're not afraid.

11 years ago | Likes 138 Dislikes 1

Make sure to begin and end every sentence with Sir. It's called a Sir Sandwich and they think that shit is delicious, makes you look good!

11 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

Thanks lucifer :)

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

The fact @TheGreatLordLucifer is the first one to...confirm/deny my suspicions makes me more suspicious...

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I want to learn the "BIRD." trick.

11 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 6

Ok. All you need is a rock and a bird. The rest will come naturally.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

First your soul must in sync with the world, and start communicating with the birds.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I hit a bird with a rock once....of course, I was tossing a handful of gravel into a flock of seagulls, but I hit one!

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

I have no idea why your comment was downvoted. This was funny as fuck!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I mean, it was kinda random cruelty to animals....which is a sign of a sociopath.....so who knows what will happen if it gets downvoted ;)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck seagulls man. They are made from God's butthole. I say kill them all!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They also poop on everything, especially when people toss them bread.....it was amusing seeing what they would eat though....
