Feeling like a horrible family memeber

TL;DR AT BOTTOM

I was born in North Carolina, but moved away when I was 2 years old. It has been 14 years, and I finally am going to be moving back where I will be about 25 minutes away from my family, however I am terrified and regretting it already.

I am pretty antisocial, and I haven't been the "new kid" since 7th grade, a year that was one of my worst ever. I had a lot of trouble finding friends because of my shy nature. Even though my immediate family will finally be able to be close to my extended family who I love dearly, I feel like at this point in my school career (junior year) it will be too late for me to make new friends and I will be making the sacrifice of being alone for a year and a half until college. In the past, I have always been the person that never lost hope that we would move back and felt like my only goal in life was to get back to NC. Now, my whole family knows that we will be moving and they are extremely excited, but I feel like I am being a shitty person for wanting to stay, even though it was me who wanted it the most originally.

TL;DR: OP wanted to move really badly, but now regrets it now that it is happening.

Make a pro and con list so that you can make an informed decision, as opposed to one made out of fear.

Everything you're feeling is normal. Change is hard, but it's all a part of your story!

Change is always tough, but this is also an opportunity. Try to find the "good" kids at the school. Not the populars. 1/2

I would suggest talking to your school counselor about what kids they would recommend you try to hang with. Worked awesome for my kids.

You're just scared of change. Everyone I know made their best friends in junior/senior year of HS. Plus you'll have your family to keep you
