And that's why you dont let them sleep to much during the day, the little fucker must sleep during the night.

Everyone should familiarize themselves with the amount of sleep their baby needs at their current age and go from there.

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 7

That's what pets are for. They're like children, but without the growing up bit. They do have a tendency to die after 10-20 years though.

As a parent, I can confidently say fuck that

Huh, my wife slept with both our babies until age 2. They'd breast feed at will barely waking her. She always got a full night's sleep.

Yep. Teaching them to sleep in their own room is incredibly valuable.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

My 2.5 yo waltzes in from her own room into ours and does this shit almost every morning. A bad morning is when her 4yo sister joins in.

5 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

Serious question: Why not set boundaries like not coming in if the doors is closed or after a certain time?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

The older one knows she’s supposed to wait until a certain time and usually does. Sometimes she even just goes downstairs alone and plays.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We got a tiny mattress that we keep under our bed for our daughter. if she gets nightmares she still feels safe and can sleep again

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

You put her under your bed? That’s outstanding!!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It looks like they're in a giant crib that's designed for adults.

5 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

Doesn't always work that way my friend.

5 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 45

Short of not having the space or money to not shared beds/rooms this is entirely the parents fault.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 16

Just because you got lucky doesn't mean other parents suck :)

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

Children find security and comfort in routines and consistency. Luck has fucking nothing to do with it. What a cop out.

Downvoted for speaking the truth ? 30 minutes of this can still be better than having to get up at 5am if that's the alternative...

5 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

Or getting up for the 5th time that night. “Not sure if I slept better but at least I was in bed”

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know any adults that aren't already getting up at 5AM or earlier for work.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Well I'm sorry, I guess.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just because you don’t know them doesn’t mean they don’t exist

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Kids are individuals. What worked with the 1st one doesn’t work with the 2nd. Plus the pandemic has sucked for kids worse than adults even.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My cat does this to me.

The real reason for anti vaxxers.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The kid isn’t doing anything the parents aren’t allowing to happen. My toddler doesn’t sleep in our bed ever.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 4

Same.. and ours pounds a 10oz bottle then sleeps for 12 hours. Diaper change some nights.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My kids slept in our bed. They never did this shit.

That’s worse than having a cat! v

Literally sitting next to my wife in labour looking at memes to pass the time and scroll to this...!

5 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

Baby in crib right from the start, own room preferably before 6mo. Studies back this up, makes both baby and parents sleep soundly.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Hugs and love to you both! Distraction is the best labour tool. Punch her in the arm so she thinks about that pain instead!

Sharing a bed with an infant got me more sleep. Sharing a bed with a toddler was a nightmare. Do what works for you guys. Congratulations!

Good luck!! It's exhausting but worth it! My 2 year old is currently making a swamp in my bathroom... It's all much easier now

Fingers well and truly crossed ? thanks

I laugh at all parents that co sleep with their kids. Unless of course it’s your only option. Just don’t do it. They will fall asleep in -

5 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 11

I'd always be scared of rolling on top of them ?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

In most cultures and places co-sleeping is normal. Find something actually funny to laugh about.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 8

Isn't that dangerous for the babies?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not if you don't use western style plush bedding.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My parents, my dad mostly, did it with us on the easy chair. All of us slept on his belly zonked out. I can sorta remember it sometimes.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's also very dangerous, babies can be smothered without the sleeping adult realizing it.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Really not true. Kids are individuals. They are all different. I used exactly the same techniques with both of mine but one took to the cot

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fine but the other could never do it. You have to realise that kids are people and people are all different.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I get that and all, but if you try hard enough it will work. My wife and I didn’t sleep for 3 days, baby barely slept those 3 days too—

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But after those 3 days of hell trying to get him to sleep in his crib, he did. No problems after that. Same with our second. If you cave —

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In and let them sleep with you, they will get hooked. What’s better than sleeping next to food source. Don’t give them the option and -

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Their crib eventually. Some just take longer than others

5 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 9

Letting them cry themselves to sleep is not good for them. You can put them down in their crib after they've gone to sleep

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 14

Uh no, you don’t let them cry it out. What you do is lay them down tired but not asleep. And then you say good night and leave.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

If they cry you go back in to settle them down and tell them goodnight. You wait a minute before going in again. Then settle them down & say

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Night, you just extend the time before you go back in by a minute each time. It works. They just need the reassurance that you’ll come if

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I never said let them cry it out, I said don’t co sleep. The longest I’ll let my kid cry is 5 minutes. If he can’t get himself sorted -

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

In 5 minutes, daddy to the rescue.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

5 minute rule. Go in every 5 minutes to calm them down and after about the 4th time, they'll fall asleep without crying themselves to sleep.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

Sure. But it shouldn't be used on children under 6 months

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 7

That kid aint under 6 months. Its from a book called The Happy Sleeper. The first week or so was rough but we stuck with it and its worked.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I concur. Breastfeeding is more successful if cosleeping too. Also bonding happens easier as well through cosleeping..

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

The damage done by 2 or 3 nights of crying is more than offset by the benefits of proper sleep and routine. Not to mention how much better

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

Uh-huh. Yeah. Sure they will. Maybe even yours did. (I don't believe it.)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Its from a booked called The Happy Sleeper. It started out rough but worked after sticking with it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Parenting is hard enough; don't shame for stuff like this.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

Read a fucking book on sleeping. This is not hard. So yeah, I will shame you for this if you whine about it.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Fine, dipshit. Guess I'll shame you for the whole "cry it out" mentality. Your idea of "read a book" is conclusion shopping. Fuck off.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Bitch, I didn’t say shit about “cry it out”. It’s sad that your children are stuck with such a cunt for a parent. Grow up.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly, we coslept with all of our kids and didn't really have any issues transitioning them to crib. It was fine, and I miss it :)

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 5

Co-sleeping just means sleeping in proximity. It doesn’t have to be in the bed. Our baby slept in a bassinet in our room at first.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bed sharing is co-sleeping but not all co-sleeping is bed sharing.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed! We have a 7yr old who occasionally still climbs in, and my partner keeps suggesting I bring the 13 month old in with us more.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

What age did you move them to the crib?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Most of them moved out by about 2 or so.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was 29 and 33

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I know. There such a special feeling you get from that time. I feel a bit sad that both of mine didn't want to co sleep.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Weren't you afraid of smothering the baby while sleeping? It does happen and causes deaths every year.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes and no. Yes because of course you gotta worry, no because I'm a very light sleeper. Also a healthy dose of "won't happen to me" :/

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But most smothering deaths like that have many other risk factors. Weight, drugs, etc.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

SIDS and suffocation are risks with bed sharing.

5 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 15

From this video it looks more like SPDS!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Isn't that a concern for babies under 1 year? To me this kid looks older

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Horrible thought, but could the high SIDS rate be because other deaths aren't a factor? Like a wealth country has more deaths from "old age"

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The article cites research showing cosleeping Pakistani families in the UK have lower SIDS rates than white British families. Check it out.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Yeah you're wrong. I personally know someone who gave their kid permanent brain damage because of cosleeping

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 15

Read the article. There is less SIDS in countries where co-sleeping is the norm.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Those countries also have lower rates of obesity, I agree in perfect circumstances you're right, but it's disingenuous to leave things out

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Risk IS increased according to your reference and other scientific articles if a parent drinks, uses drugs, is obese, or has a bad bed.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's usually a parent who has been drinking

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Or on drugs, or is obese, or isn't on an appropriate bed, etc etc. There are too many requirements to just broadly state that theres no risk

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I would be willing to agree that in PERFECT circumstances there probably is no increased risk, but that's unreasonable to assume

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rolled over on him and kept him from breathing for minutes, he lived but he's now mentally handicapped

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 7

Curiously, was it the father? Ive read that the baby should sleep between mom and a wall because new moms are so hardwired to wake easily

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Yep

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a “mom” of a doll that was a baby simulator. I rolled the fuck over that thing while asleep and killed it good, WHILE it was crying.
