The happiest I have ever seen my dad on the day I graduated college.
Yesterday my dad passed away. I would do anything to get rid of the memories of finding him dead in his bed and the sound of my mother wailing when she arrived home to the paramedics. I'm trying to stay positive, but its been a really rough time. I was looking for some photos and these all brought a smile to my face.
My dad was born in Macedonia on July 8, 1950. At the age of 16 he left home and traveled all across Europe working any job he could get. He eventually moved to Eastern Canada where he worked in mining. He then moved to Vancouver and eventually was granted residency to the United States. After moving to California, he went to school and became a licensed tile and general contractor. He led such an amazing life and was able to see so many spectacular things. He use to bug me by literally talking to anyone and everyone wherever we went. One day I finally asked him why he finds it necessary to talk to so many people. And you know what he said? Emy (that's what he called me), I wasted so many years of my life not talking to people because I was afraid they wouldn't understand me. I'm just making up for lost time.
So here is your daily reminder to live your life to the fullest and enjoy those who surround you.

Next week will be 8 years since I lost my dad- I can only say that it does get easier to smile. Brave yourself for some bad holidays though.

Found my father deceased also. I can't say the memory leaves, but after 10 years, it's gotten to be hazy. I hope it does for you, as well.
