How well are the segments of the blade joined together? The method looks "interesting" but seems like the resulting blade would be weaker.

The orange peel finish suggests forging, in which case this was a series of incomplete forge welds. So yeah, weaker.

Probably but it was more an experiment on the blade design then the functionality so i just twisted up a quick handle
