Except spice and wolf, it's like the firefly of the anime world.
Counterfit
Except it got a second season
RedStormyCloud
Upvoting for Gurren Lagann. Kamina is my idol
OhGodItsTheSkeletonsAgain
I've seen FLCL about 28 times now, and it just gets funnier EVERY TIME I SEE IT!
ordohereticusinquisitor
Railgun was better, at least for the clone arc.
Spamamdorf
Sisters arc was redone with a better budget, so yes it's obviously better. Though I can't say that most of the filler arcs were very good
ordohereticusinquisitor
The filler arcs were terrible, I'd also like to say that the reason it was better IMO was Misaka's emotional investment in it was greater.
Spamamdorf
Considering it was the same arc I'd say the emotional investment was probably the same, it's just *ours* was greater because we saw her side
ordohereticusinquisitor
I was talking about versus Tomoe's, It was more interesting because it explored a character who's perspective I found more interesting.

GeneralRedland
I'd be tempted to make a Vash character in the next Borderlands if that was not completely against his pacifism. Knives would fit right in.
NotSoToastedToast
Dude, tell me you haven't watched Kill La Kill, because that's only reason it is should not be on this list.
Redmega
I watch it for the plot.
CanadaDad
Kill La Kill is only great if one has a decent knowledge of anime to understand how wonderfully over the top it is. Not for newbies.
BEAVERBOY
I couldn't get into it because of the crazy nude stuff. It just took me out of it. I understand that's part of the appeal, but idk. 1/2
IspellBananasbysingingGwenStefani
Your 2/2 is mia. But I feel the same way. I understand its satire but just because it is satire doesn't mean i have to enjoy it.
NotSoToastedToast
I understand your reasons for finding it off-putting but it happens so much I kinda got used to it. As weird as it sounds, it is for plot.
XHavic
Just finished it yesterday, such an amazing show, amazing characters
NotSoToastedToast
Gamagoori is mah fave.
DirtMallRat
Just finished kill LA kill the other day! Pretty awesome show I like where they went with it

They're different. The first anime is D-Frag and I dunno what the second one is from.
XenomorphZZ
Quack?
SirBlu
+1 for steins;gate, fate/Zero and FMA. My favourites
App1eJu1ce
Everyone should watch FLCL. EVERYONE. Its short, sweet, and mindfucking.
BeachBumRum
As someone who's never watched anime besides DBZ, FMA:B is one of my favorite shows overall
SirBlu
I recommend watching Fate/Zero. It's on Netflix as is its (sorta) sequel.
superamericaman
Replace steins;gate with Baccano! and you've got my top three right there, long as you're talking FMA Brotherhood
SirBlu
Just included FMA as a whole. They were all good in their own ways
almostsomething182
You can't replace Steins;gate. Impossible.
MrInconspicuous
Akame Ga Kill is SOOOOOO!!!........ average
cowabungapizza
Yeah but the feels is what makes it good
ILoveMOISTTOWELETTES
Okey OP, WHERE IS COWBOY BEBOP?!
[deleted]

CharmingPrism
It is up there.
theFowlness
I agree with this! But where is Inuyasha too?!?!? Inuyasha never gets love on here :'(
whade
Have you checked the trash? lol jk
Poobydooby
because those get added in every anime list ever on this site. then again, attack on titan is as well
JCLgaming
It's overrated. Bring it on.
DKasz
I agree with you
gorion1928
No, Attack on Titan is overrated. Cowboy Bebop is oversaturated which emotionally is almost the same thing.
CanadaDad
I've been a anime fan for decades but just watched Cowboy Bebop this year. It now ranks among my all-time favorites.
AstroCreeper
I couldn't really get into cowboy bebop. Stopped around episode 16.
HonestQuestion
Welcome to the club. It's a very large club.
Gomer592
if you can get past the seemingly over-done first episodes, try outlaw star
Zivirus
I goofed

jpww
Yes but +1 for YU YU. Everyone knows Bebop so it's automatically assumed that it's on every list.
Tigorahan
StarmanUltra
It's alright considering it's on *every* other list. But for a list this long it certainly feels missing.
iantollewellyn
The consequences will never be the same.
shadolance
I would also have included Great Teacher Onizuka, but it's not my list XD
Cha0sRising90
How about Hunter x Hunter?
darkkai3
And Outlaw Star? That series is on too few lists! SPACESHIPS WITH ARMS!
Gomer592
GODYES!!! spaceships punching each other AND a real plotline, with emotion and character development, too many quit watching too soon
darkkai3
Everything's made better with spaceships with arms!
EngineeringDisaster
As a swimmer, I am particularly fond of Death Note for its great insights into the art of swimming:
CerealFirstOrWaterFirst
this made me laugh and cry xD
luckchan
damn that's an old gif
EngineeringDisaster
That it is. But I love it all the same.
CodeUsernameIrrelevent
did i just watch a climatic gif that spoiled an ending to a show... being utilized as swimming tutorials?
EngineeringDisaster
Well... I mean. It is one hell of a swimming tutorial.
The1Fool
He forgot to explain how to kick.
CodeUsernameIrrelevent
Indeed it was
lysani
The entire show is pretty much like it. Personally I think Death Note is overrated and not really all that great.
jet8225
Strong start then they wrote themselves into a hole.
surprisemotherfuckers
true...
KalmiaKamui
I like to pretend the second season doesn't exist past the first episode (which makes a nice epilogue to the first season).
Leijin
I just read the manga.. but it was kinda.. exhausting to read sometimes... good but.. well.. exhausting...
EngineeringDisaster
Oh yes. Definitely exhausting to read sometimes. Very long logical battles. But still good.
RiotGrasper
DON'T WATCH AKAME GA KILL OR TOKYO GHOUL! Not even cows get butchered that hard.
FreaknikSaveUs
FUCK YOU. TOKYO GHOUL IS THE SHIT
Lyyris
The manga just deserved so much more than the adaptation was able to give. That's why people think of the anime as a huge letdown.
FreaknikSaveUs
That's true. But the show by itself is still great
jestersama
Through the final 2/3s of that show I kept going "what the fuck, why?" When a main was killed for seemingly no reason
eva01
I watched it and i liked it lol
Miyak0
Tokyo ghoul season 1 is fine but season 2 is just... The manga is really good tho especially tokyo ghoul re
Quinko
I knew it... I've only watched the first episode of season 2 with great expectations, but stopped when it took another turn than the manga1/
Quinko
I was already quite disappointed how they changed the story in the first episode, but did it get worse? How did it end? 2/2
Miyak0
the ending was just terrible. the story doesnt make sense they just butchered everything. i recommend the manga 100%
IamRevyn
who care just watch and read em both, if theyre different its not like it'll spoil anything
laynejj
Akame Ga Kills anime adaption was awful. Haven't seen S2 for Tokyo ghoul yet.
Velosiraptor
It's awesome much more fighting
willitgoalltheway
Season 2 upset me. Stick with the manga if you are.
mantysaippua
S2 divides people so much, I personally like it, but most of guys who has watched it doesn't at hates it from bottom of their heart.
Sp0oky
1/2 I reaaally wouldnt't reccomend S2, the first was cool because it followed his life adapting and stuff, but S2 just becomes your average
Sp0oky
anime with that one protagonist that is in every fighting anime ever, not as quirky or entertaining imo
SkyrimForTheDragons
That's because it deviates from the manga which stays awesome.
DeadpanLaugh
It was pretty good until it split from the manga. Then it lost its sense of "Who will survive?" and replaced it with "Kill EVERYONE"
GoodTofuFriday
Which was ashame too it was very well done until that point. Beyond me why they didn't wait to make the series after enough chapters.
Zawnbu
I like to pretend season 2 didn't happen. I pray they will remake and not try to continue it. THE BUTCHERED CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT -sobs-

"Good anime" ... "Bleach".
OrangeFlavours
Yeah, 40 anime, and basically all the most popular ones..

They're right in the sense that only afew of these are good.
hollowbastionx
"Essentially every popular anime that has been watched within the past decade."

ironlemonade
I can do this but I have a pretty biased(mostly excessively bloody) taste that most that even like anime aren't usually fans of, nvm imgur.
Gaidenninjacat
There was a few lesser known anime added in
ImmortalToaster
Not even, it's literally just a list of every anime that became more than mildly popular. Probably just colied and pasted this shit.
Vivek13
When there's like 30(more?) animes per season, a list of 40 animes isn't that many.
mantysaippua
Still its not few
Vivek13
Sure it is. Reading 60 pages in a book that has 1000 pages is just a few.
SkyrimForTheDragons
But when you can only read 1 page a day. 60 is a whole lot.

Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece... Do you want people to spend months watching that stuff?
Leijin
the new one piece manga chapter was so. fucking. awesome. (10 years in - 10 years to go for me, I guess :D)
cowabungapizza
Bleach only takes a week if you skip all the filler episodes
Zacflame
*years
Sdr8t2
Might as well throw Dragonball/Z in there while you're at it right?
FreaknikSaveUs
Dbz is a goddamn classic masterpiece
juulz5293
and dont you forget it!
xrufus7x
And thats just the filler.
TraitorRed
Worth it though /o_
mkyner
I like how your clip for Magical Index is actually of Railgun.
kubi
I think that scene is from Index, but yes the character in the photo is a side character who got her own spinoff.
DeadpanLaugh
Railgun is the best series anyway sooo
DarthFutuza
It's kind of the same really...just different point of views of the same story.
Spamamdorf
Railgun is basically Index anyways, especially if that's the Sister's arc like it seems to be
MnemonicMonkeys
No it wasn't, it's a clip form the first episode. Literally in the first five minutes.
mkyner
I meant the character, not the series.
mkyner
If you're looking for something uplifting and happy, I recommend Clannad or Ano Hana.

BiroZombie
A fun show that's great for kids is "Corpse Party". Don't let the title fool you. The students go on an amazing adventure!
NippleLickerOfJustice
Wow, gee thanks random Internet stranger! You could never lie to me!!
HighImpactSexualViolence
Technically what they go through does qualify as an "amazing adventure"
PrYTempest
I remember watching Ano Hana when it was just coming out... so many tears.
DVSBSTrD
If you're looking for something that doesn't turn to shit half way through, I recommend Akame ga Kill!
ahgodzilla
What about Neon Genesis?
TopHatChicken
Congrats, you made me give my slightly high pitched giggle. +1, you filthy fuck.
Tumblesthestairdragon
You monster!
sweatytelemarketer
Is it weird that I didn't cry at all during Clannad?
SightStone
That is extremely good advice. So very good. Well done, you are a kind person who has done society a service.
perckq
The part in FMA with the dog and the girl is always such a laugh.
HighImpactSexualViolence
You say that, but something thinks you weren't actually laughing along with me at that scene.
WillMurrray
You make me want to die
TheFaceOfJoe
Did nobody else watch plastic memories? That fucked me up...
WillMurrray
Pretty sad end but happy at the same time
IAmDeathAndIAmNotFunAtParties
Elfen Lied tops my list of uplifting.
OrionKaelin
I'd use "heartwarming" though there are plenty of happy moments too.
GoodTofuFriday
Ano Hana made me cry more than anything else in my life.
RobWell

CthulhuOurSavior
DON'T YOU PUT THOSE FEELS ON THEM, RICKY BOBBY!

"Uplifting"? "HAPPY"!? YOU MONSTER. CLANNAD DESTROYED ME (still my favorite anime of all time mind)
shaunishere
You lie in April was also really up lifting

CanadianJohnyAppleseed
You sunova bitch, I actually fucking fell for that shit when my friend said that. It's one way to get into anime and see its not just 4 kids
UntertalesComicSans
Never again.
dracosan
Oh no...
ThatOneIndustrialElectrician
The happiest show I have ever seen is Guilty Crown. Especially the second season. Things just keep going right for them.
NippleLickerOfJustice
Wow, gee thanks random Internet stranger! You could never lie to me!!
icameforthefood
I like to pretend that there was no second season
ThatOneIndustrialElectrician
Oh, So it's the same length as SAO. I guess that could work
GoodTofuFriday
I watched the whole thing and in the end never felt emotionally connected.
ThatOneIndustrialElectrician
I really liked the first season. But it just got depressing and boring in the second half.
brothertaddeus
Even better for uplifting and happy: School Days.
mkyner
That was my first school-setting anime. I had assumed that kind of stuff was normal for the genre. I have been disappointed since.
Counterfit
Nice boat
TOMMOEX
Especially clannad after story, happiest show ever
DelaysAction
It is a truly sad story, but at least it has a good uplifting ending. Some animes just leaves you wrecked.
NinShinobu
nope i didnt stop to watch it because i knew what will happen nope im a man...i didnt even cry...
I3anshee
watch it till the end, you will cry a lot, from happiness, at least i did, after crying 4 caps straight out of pure sadness, im 21 and 1.87
NinShinobu
i watched it already. i rewatched both series and stop at before episode 16 because i didnt want to see it
giny33
Yep only cried 10 times.
TyphlosionShiny
I only cried like 3 times... For the whole day...
Mewrulez99
At least when it's over, we don't feel attatched because the ending's shit.
Counterfit
I ragequit when the fucking orbs did their bullshit. Don't make me go through that and then undo it all.
Aistad
It is based off of a game... iirc you unknowingly collect those orbs to allow for you to change your fate. That's what the other world was.
