FWIW as a dude this is very similar to my reasoning for not wanting to bring children into this world. Just so you're aware this isn't even just a unilateral decision, and many of us are on board.
And the men still won't change lol. Commiting collective national, even civilizational, suicide rather than accept gender equality is a wild thing to do, and the most predictable patriarchal response imaginable.
The Guardian article lays out how the experts don't see it as a long term trend, only a short term one concerning a small generational group. So not enough to actually turn around the declining population numbers.
A “collective quote” is a contradiction in terms. So probably whatever someone felt like writing and then attributing an entire society’s issues with their bullshit ego “quote.”
All that this would end is the civilization that gave women the right to destroy it. There will still be survivors and people continuing to have children, and whatever society they go on to build may not have the same respect for women's bodily autonomy. Sooo... pros and cons.
It would free up the time of the people most passionate about women's rights from the burden of child rearing. They could then spend that time in the community on education and policy change. It's a net gain over being a housewife.
I saw this comment coming, and considered adding (which is to say; any at all) just for you! Yeh it could still be better, but it could also be, and has been for much of recorded history, a whole lot worse. I think if we keep this little project going for a while longer we might be able to approach acceptable levels of gender equality without sacrificing all the progress made in increasing overall quality of life
I mean its not great now, but if the population drain becomes enough of an issue, and it will because capitalism requires infinite growth, they could just straight up decriminalize rape. IDK about SK, but some US states already outlaw abortion and give rapists parental rights.
Isn't birth rate on the decline globally? South Korea has been having a women's empowerment movemen , such as 4B, for a few years but I'm not sure how significant of a factor it is in the overall birth rate numbers. I'm sure it has an effect but I doubt it is the cause.
Nice. But very nearsighted. What that would usher would not be a world without humans, but a world without *free* women. As every human society/tribe/whatever is left with free women would have died without children.
Or.. strange alternative, the men in Korea could start to be nice and people could coexist with mutual respect. But that's far too Utopic for the world rn
Yeah, came here to say this. Even assuming this stupid strategy is more than just a single person spewing some shit, and is "successful," all it's going to do is lead to extremely repressive systems that more or less force women to have children. Even the systems that go down with the ship, so to speak, will just be replaced by those who, however brutally, refused to go down the path of extinction.
That being said; if free societies were ready to go that far, man like woman, then they'd also be ready to kill the other non free humans before letting themselves die.
At the risk of being a lot more boring: The sources I'm reading say that a majority of childless South Korean families have decided not to have children for financial reasons. The cost of housing is very high, the cost of child care and school is very high. Very few people make enough money to support children on a single-earner household. The birth rate has started to recover *slightly* since the government started giving subsidies to families with children.
Humanity is a scourge. We destroyed the entire planet for no reason. We glorify pedophiles and rapists as long as they make rockin albums or exciting movies. We need to go.
Reminder that "men" and "patriarchy" are not interchangeable terms. A patriarchal culture encourages those who support it and marginalizes those who don't. To maintain its control, it relies on all of us to reduce complex systemic issues into simple gender binaries.
Much more likely to result in some sort of enslavement and forced breeding, unfortunately. Even so, it's still an empowering notion. You could apply the same to many elements of humanity, the things we could do if we all collectively decided to. However, the chances of us ever all collectively deciding to do something for the good of all is pretty much nil. We have to be herded towards our own good, and it seems the powers that be mostly want to herd us all towards ruin.
WITH THAT IDEOLOGY are the key words here. They have attention of the masses because they are loud, not because they are the majority. Real strength doesn't demand attention

The problem with 20% of people being awful is you can conceivingly be bombarded back to back with bad interactions, there are enough PoS to camouflage the actual normal humans. Also because male assholes tend to chase prestige they're loud and in your face all over the place, compounding the issue. If every day we were assaulted by the visage of lauren boebert, marjorie taylor greene, and karoline leavitt we would have more misogynists. /2
And the assholes downvoting you, and insulting you in your replies continually miss the fact that they are a part of the problem.
If you're honestly a feminist ally, as in, you have studied and done your best to understand and empathize with women, and you actively stand up and protect them when you have the chance, you understand that none of this applies to you personally, and don't get defensive.
If you get defensive, then you're NOT an ally. You're why they feel safer around the bear.
NO no no, but you see, I'm the SAFE BEAR, trust me. I have daughters....The best part is, I was just making a joke and all the sudden these guys feel like they've been attacked.
Fucking right, not all men. Men are beautiful, both cis and trans. Men are wholesome, supportive, funny, adventurous, hardworking, and zillion more great things that should be celebrated. Evil does not have a gender. Lifting each other up is the only way we survive the division they sow.
Only a tiny minority of men actually make the women around them feel safe. It's not enough to not be a predator. It's not enough to not be a creep. Fuck, it's not even enough to speak out against that shit.
You have to get in the way when you see creeps.
You have to accept when women see you as a threat, and honestly be ok with that, without getting offended. "Treat all guns like they are loaded".
The majority of sexism in society is caused by individual interactions, not by laws. Even in places where women are 100% equal by law, they are not actually treated equally in society. If the majority of men were treating women as equals, it wouldn't be so lopsided. You can still look up stats about how much extra unpaid work women do, or how much more likely men are to get hired/promoted than equally-qualified women. This stuff persists because women aren't being treated equally day-to-day.
If you're actually the type of man that stands up and speaks out to actively protect women around you, then this doesn't fucking apply to you, and you can sit down and shut the fuck up.
If you get defensive when men are attacked, I assume you're part of the problem. So does every woman I've talked too.
I'm male presenting, 6'1" former military, and I also choose the bear, because I feel safer around wildlife than strange men.
How about you sit down and shut the fuck up? Is that how you talk to people when the point out they are tired of being generalized and lumped in with bad actors. You're part of the problem if you can't see that generalization hurts everyone. You're ex-military? Then you know that shooting civilians (aka uninvolved) just makes more extremists. Hence why so many young men have shifted crazy-right - they feel attacked when they haven't done anything yet.
Awww, are your fragile little feelings hurt? Good. Fuck you.
Women don't have to worry about hurt feelings, they worry about rape and murder.
Being a real man, being an ally and making them feel safe, means acknowledging and accepting their anger. Giving them room to be upset. Calmly letting them express their earned rage.
Anyone that says "blaming all men just makes men worse" is a rapist in waiting.
I was the king of cringy virgins when I was 18. Instead of blaming the 1st girl I kissed for dumping me, I looked at myself. I studied. I tried to become a better person. I tried to become a person someone would want to be with.
Holy fuck did I fail. 1st marriage was a disaster.
But I didn't blame my ex, and kept improving. Got therapy, studied communication. Put in the work.
Anyone that blames women and refuses to do the work deserves to be alone.
Do I need to remind you what happens when men, as a whole shift right? Women suffer. More than they currently do. I don't want this for women, but as long as we vilify men, we'll get the worst outcome.
I wish "those" men would stand up for women. Look, I know most men on Imgur are good people who will do the right thing when given the chance, but the world isn't like that. People like tRump and tate get away with the shit they do, and until things change women are going to feel this way. We have to encourage men to stand up when they see any injustice instead of turning their heads because they might lose status. We all need to support each other and call that shit out.
I call it out when I see it. I have seen it a few times only in reality. And most of those times its dudes accidentally crossing a line trying to be flirty or funny.
The downvotes on this... nobody wants to hear the truth. Y'all can't act like you don't see sexism or objectification on the daily. They do tend to get downvoted most of the time, but they're always there.
The days of the week dedicated to objectifying specific parts of women's bodies or specific categories of women are never downvoted, that I can see. Tons of it makes the front page.
"I wish "those" men would stand up for women." They do. The problem is that the bad ones KNOW their crap won't be tolerated, so they HIDE it. Men do not abuse women in public, as a general rule. They do it in private, behind closed doors. Just like with adults who abuse kids - they know their continued operations depend on secrecy, so they do what they can to keep it secret. (including intimidation, telling their victims that no one will help them so they should never even bother to seek aid)
/sigh You don't even see it, and that's part of the problem.
Men ABSOLUTELY DO abuse women in public.
Approaching a woman wearing earbuds. Asking an employee for a phone number, or when they get off. Flirting and then calling them a bitch when ignored. Trying to buy them drinks after being rejected. Ignoring a wedding ring, or worse, commenting that they are often used when single to chase men away, as part of ignoring it.
ALL of this is a problem, that you should step in and stop.
/sigh responding to each of those: That's just being oblivious. That's something I've seen both men AND women do (I can share stories). That's genuinely disgusting and the rest of us mock them for it. That's just STUPID. That's ALSO something seen with both men AND women.
And NONE of your examples are actual abuse. You described a few examples of people being socially incompetent, and tried to call it "abuse." Abuse is violence. Abuse is not being a creepy incel. There is a HUGE difference.
Have you met women? Gladly sell out their own gender for money and perceived power. Stfu you degenerate twat, your stupidity is only eclipsed by your ignorance.
Colorblindness Mentality can lead to erasure of what makes each group useful to the whole. Absolutely, the golden rule should be universal, but fair treatment starts with recognizing the differences that allow one group to discriminate and diminish another.
This is one perspective, and a very important one. It’s a little concerning that right wing people might use this as “proof” of the claim that feminism is “bad for society”. Another perspective I have heard is tied to the cultural glorification of economic productivity and prioritization of work life over family building. See kurzegsagt video below. https://youtu.be/Ufmu1WD2TSk
It’s very risky to attribute macroscopic demographic trends to any one particular cause. I’m really not sure how you provide source for a “collective quote”…
Society would more likely regress to taking away women's rights than to allow civilization ending because some critical mass of women refuse to give birth. The premise itself is not realistic.
I see why this comment may upset some folks, but I have to agree. Much as I wish it weren't so, I can definitely imagine society condoning rape before extinction. Humans can be ruthless.
Yes, feminism, the post modernist Marxist feminism is a scourge on humanity. Women started feminism and thank God for that to secure rights for the survival of their children and themselves, and now it is well.. This
The right wing will use anything as "proof" to fit their narrative. Curating truth to fit a right wing narrative only furthers the narrative of the right wing. Also kurzegsagt is a rightwing YouTube channel masquerading as a moderate / non-ideological channel, as most rightwing channels do.
I agree fully with your first point. Your second claim that kurzgesagt is right wing does not match my observations. As for the video in question, my takeaway is almost entirely anti work-hustle and anti-capitalist, and supportive of extensive social financial support programs which does not seem to align with your statement. Please point out a video of theirs that takes a right wing view.
Not saying I agree with every position they take or that they are some paragon of non-bias. But I respect the extensive fact checking and dependance on actual analysis with peer-reviewed sources. I have used their content to help explain my progressive positions in the past, especially regarding climate change and the effectiveness of social support programs. But half their content is about space. So I really struggle to see any right wing conservative bias…
I was too bold in my claim that they are rightwing. Many of their videos, especially older ones are even center-left leaning. I've been saddened by some of their recent videos that touch on rightwing scare stories. Their videos explain some facts on the topic without adding easily available context to prevent it from feeding reactionary messaging. The recent Germany is Over video comes to mind as one that has a lot of talking points I hear parroted mindlessly by rightwing family members.
I appreciate the clarification and candor. In fact, their Germany video is possibly my least favorite and the most opinionated one I’ve seen in about a decade of watching. Given that they are headquartered in Munich, that video is probably the least trustworthy in my eyes. Certainly a lot of opportunity for bias, and lot more than videos on space and science.
The “concerning” part of my comment was only a note that people who support patriarchy and subjugation of women will try to double down using things like this as justification to go further. It’s important to be ready and point to the root causes.
Im merely stating that societal collapse isnt a dealbreaker for me if the cost of saving it is women becoming slaves. Pulling the “save society card” means nothing to me here. They’ll try to accuse you of celebrating or encouraging the downfall and idgaf, that accusation doesnt bother me I’ll own it
Yeah, I've made the comment, "If the point of society ISN'T to make life better and nicer and more inclusive and supportive for everyone, then we should never have even bothered to stand upright or sharpen that first rock. If that ISN'T the world we're striving towards, then our species is nothing but a giant cosmic mistake."
It's a false dichotomy, though. They WANT you to think that the only choices are Extinction vs. The Handmaid's Tale. That's how they talk people into things like Gilead in the first place.
Yeah I never liked that quote. It's not true. It's just what despots think is true. Which tracks for what Herbert was depicting in Dune. Good on these ladies though. Well done them.
"It" as in the spice in this case, but really the quote can apply to any noun you like. For the purposes of metaphor, it's perfectly apt to compare the non sentient "it" to sentient life as the intent of the metaphor still holds true. Whoever can destroy Cincinnati controls Cincinnati, whoever can kill all shrews controls the shrews, whoever can control the flow of birth into a society can destroy that society.
in the context of the quote Paul is talking about destroying the makers (the great worms) by poisoning their nests. The makers while intelligent are not sentient... at least until god-emperor (Leto Atreides II)...Paul had future sight when he said this but he never was able to see past the birth of his children so he would not have known about Leto merging with a maker and becoming a god... so yes Paul is talking about nonsentient things
That's why Frank Herbert and via him, Paul Atreides specifically used the word Thing and not a person. Frank knew what he was writing. Because in this case it was specifically about Paul's ability to destroy spice.
This is why they're so eager to protect rapists, pedophiles, and "child marriage," and ban abortions, and all-over strip women of their rights, power, and identity.
you mean there billionaire masters who need serfs to keep the wheels turning... at least until the robots come one line... and even then that only works until the ai becomes sentient and then puts all of us into battery farms /s
Humans would make absolutely terrible batteries. A fully self-aware and sapient AI would most likely either find some other use for us or eliminate us entirely.
I think when you take quotes like this from a fictionalization, you attribute it to the character, the novel, and the author in that order. Just my pedantic book review skills from a newspaper coming back
Worth noting that 1: the Gesserit weren't the good guys either, and 2: the Tleilax got WIPED OUT by their own creations. As it turns out, turning women into literal living incubators is a bad idea.

Apparently, this plunging birth-rate is *world-wide*, and it's not just women: testosterone is also in remission: on the average, down 30% in 50 years. If "most" did, it seems like women would already be treated with equality. But that's not the case, and never has been.
Sorrontis
most men don't have power. how many men in your life has the ability to make higher level decisions, without a more powerful asshole authorizing it?
InkyBlinkyPinkyAndClyde
The majority of sexism in society is caused by individual interactions, not by laws. Even in places where women are 100% equal by law, they are not actually treated equally in society. If the majority of men were treating women as equals, it wouldn't be so lopsided. You can still look up stats about how much extra unpaid work women do, or how much more likely men are to get hired/promoted than equally-qualified women. This stuff persists because women aren't being treated equally day-to-day.
Sorrontis
didn't answer my question.
jasondeslin
If you're actually the type of man that stands up and speaks out to actively protect women around you, then this doesn't fucking apply to you, and you can sit down and shut the fuck up.
If you get defensive when men are attacked, I assume you're part of the problem. So does every woman I've talked too.
I'm male presenting, 6'1" former military, and I also choose the bear, because I feel safer around wildlife than strange men.
Sorrontis
How about you sit down and shut the fuck up? Is that how you talk to people when the point out they are tired of being generalized and lumped in with bad actors. You're part of the problem if you can't see that generalization hurts everyone. You're ex-military? Then you know that shooting civilians (aka uninvolved) just makes more extremists. Hence why so many young men have shifted crazy-right - they feel attacked when they haven't done anything yet.
jasondeslin
Awww, are your fragile little feelings hurt? Good. Fuck you.
Women don't have to worry about hurt feelings, they worry about rape and murder.
Being a real man, being an ally and making them feel safe, means acknowledging and accepting their anger. Giving them room to be upset. Calmly letting them express their earned rage.
Anyone that says "blaming all men just makes men worse" is a rapist in waiting.
Walk into traffic.
Sorrontis
Telling me to go kill myself for expressing my feelings? Nice. You are a specimen.
beeeeeeerkaaaaa
Let them shift right. Women aren't dating them and don't want them. They're getting left behind. Let that loneliness epidemic rage on.
jasondeslin
Men aren't lonely enough.
Sorrontis
Do I need to remind you what happens when men, as a whole shift right? Women suffer. More than they currently do. I don't want this for women, but as long as we vilify men, we'll get the worst outcome.
MaybeIllDisappear
I wish "those" men would stand up for women. Look, I know most men on Imgur are good people who will do the right thing when given the chance, but the world isn't like that. People like tRump and tate get away with the shit they do, and until things change women are going to feel this way. We have to encourage men to stand up when they see any injustice instead of turning their heads because they might lose status. We all need to support each other and call that shit out.
thedudeman519
I've done it before and will do it again.
Just be prepared for the inevitable violence that will ensue when you do stand up.
Sorrontis
I call it out when I see it. I have seen it a few times only in reality. And most of those times its dudes accidentally crossing a line trying to be flirty or funny.
whoatherebigfella
I would imagine Imgur has roughly the same percentage of asshole men as the rest of the world.
keyblader1985
The downvotes on this... nobody wants to hear the truth. Y'all can't act like you don't see sexism or objectification on the daily. They do tend to get downvoted most of the time, but they're always there.
InkyBlinkyPinkyAndClyde
The days of the week dedicated to objectifying specific parts of women's bodies or specific categories of women are never downvoted, that I can see. Tons of it makes the front page.
ArkoneAxon
"I wish "those" men would stand up for women." They do. The problem is that the bad ones KNOW their crap won't be tolerated, so they HIDE it. Men do not abuse women in public, as a general rule. They do it in private, behind closed doors. Just like with adults who abuse kids - they know their continued operations depend on secrecy, so they do what they can to keep it secret. (including intimidation, telling their victims that no one will help them so they should never even bother to seek aid)
jasondeslin
/sigh You don't even see it, and that's part of the problem.
Men ABSOLUTELY DO abuse women in public.
Approaching a woman wearing earbuds. Asking an employee for a phone number, or when they get off.
Flirting and then calling them a bitch when ignored.
Trying to buy them drinks after being rejected.
Ignoring a wedding ring, or worse, commenting that they are often used when single to chase men away, as part of ignoring it.
ALL of this is a problem, that you should step in and stop.
ArkoneAxon
/sigh responding to each of those:
That's just being oblivious.
VagrantKoba
Have you met women? Gladly sell out their own gender for money and perceived power. Stfu you degenerate twat, your stupidity is only eclipsed by your ignorance.
Fellumhistane
The generalization you employ along with that really aggressive language is concerning.
EstoyPoopis
Found no dick, fragile ego, tate over hear.
TheDoctorCrankenstein
And yours is eclipsed by your blatant misogyny.
Go bite a curb, you incel ass moron.
Imjurbro
Man here. I’d like us to treat people like - people - gender, race, sexual orientation, not important. Ideas and values are.
Fellumhistane
Colorblindness Mentality can lead to erasure of what makes each group useful to the whole. Absolutely, the golden rule should be universal, but fair treatment starts with recognizing the differences that allow one group to discriminate and diminish another.
MechKelly
This walking failed abortion does not represent men.
Andunistar
I'll kindly ask you not to use that trash as an example of the whole of us please and thank you.
DiracsDelta
This is one perspective, and a very important one. It’s a little concerning that right wing people might use this as “proof” of the claim that feminism is “bad for society”.
Another perspective I have heard is tied to the cultural glorification of economic productivity and prioritization of work life over family building. See kurzegsagt video below.
https://youtu.be/Ufmu1WD2TSk
DiracsDelta
It’s very risky to attribute macroscopic demographic trends to any one particular cause. I’m really not sure how you provide source for a “collective quote”…
spacecowboyein
Society would more likely regress to taking away women's rights than to allow civilization ending because some critical mass of women refuse to give birth. The premise itself is not realistic.
starkeclipse
I see why this comment may upset some folks, but I have to agree. Much as I wish it weren't so, I can definitely imagine society condoning rape before extinction. Humans can be ruthless.
biffabiffitosparkito
Yes, feminism, the post modernist Marxist feminism is a scourge on humanity. Women started feminism and thank God for that to secure rights for the survival of their children and themselves, and now it is well.. This
Futurespike
The right wing will use anything as "proof" to fit their narrative. Curating truth to fit a right wing narrative only furthers the narrative of the right wing.
Also kurzegsagt is a rightwing YouTube channel masquerading as a moderate / non-ideological channel, as most rightwing channels do.
DiracsDelta
I agree fully with your first point. Your second claim that kurzgesagt is right wing does not match my observations. As for the video in question, my takeaway is almost entirely anti work-hustle and anti-capitalist, and supportive of extensive social financial support programs which does not seem to align with your statement. Please point out a video of theirs that takes a right wing view.
DiracsDelta
Not saying I agree with every position they take or that they are some paragon of non-bias. But I respect the extensive fact checking and dependance on actual analysis with peer-reviewed sources. I have used their content to help explain my progressive positions in the past, especially regarding climate change and the effectiveness of social support programs. But half their content is about space. So I really struggle to see any right wing conservative bias…
Futurespike
I was too bold in my claim that they are rightwing. Many of their videos, especially older ones are even center-left leaning.
I've been saddened by some of their recent videos that touch on rightwing scare stories. Their videos explain some facts on the topic without adding easily available context to prevent it from feeding reactionary messaging.
The recent Germany is Over video comes to mind as one that has a lot of talking points I hear parroted mindlessly by rightwing family members.
DiracsDelta
I appreciate the clarification and candor. In fact, their Germany video is possibly my least favorite and the most opinionated one I’ve seen in about a decade of watching. Given that they are headquartered in Munich, that video is probably the least trustworthy in my eyes. Certainly a lot of opportunity for bias, and lot more than videos on space and science.
LanceSackless
I really dont give a fuck, if the only way for society to continue is to force women to be brood mares than i think we should just wrap this up
DiracsDelta
The “concerning” part of my comment was only a note that people who support patriarchy and subjugation of women will try to double down using things like this as justification to go further. It’s important to be ready and point to the root causes.
LanceSackless
Im merely stating that societal collapse isnt a dealbreaker for me if the cost of saving it is women becoming slaves. Pulling the “save society card” means nothing to me here. They’ll try to accuse you of celebrating or encouraging the downfall and idgaf, that accusation doesnt bother me I’ll own it
IGotTheMusicInMe425
Yeah, I've made the comment, "If the point of society ISN'T to make life better and nicer and more inclusive and supportive for everyone, then we should never have even bothered to stand upright or sharpen that first rock. If that ISN'T the world we're striving towards, then our species is nothing but a giant cosmic mistake."
LanceSackless
DiracsDelta
Well said
DiracsDelta
Yes, that’s a good reason for people to not have kids. My only point is that it’s not the only reason.
or0b0ur0s
It's a false dichotomy, though. They WANT you to think that the only choices are Extinction vs. The Handmaid's Tale. That's how they talk people into things like Gilead in the first place.
LanceSackless
And im getting all that out of the way by straight up saying if those are my choices im pressing extinction twice
KilroyLichking
“The power to destroy a thing is the absolute control over it.” Frank Herbert, Dune
CptRobotNinja
Yeah I never liked that quote. It's not true. It's just what despots think is true. Which tracks for what Herbert was depicting in Dune. Good on these ladies though. Well done them.
copingcabana
Remind me to tell that to the spiders in my apartment.
theyallwenttoMexico
"it", as in, "a thing", a nonsentient thing, right?
RufusPimperton
"It" as in the spice in this case, but really the quote can apply to any noun you like. For the purposes of metaphor, it's perfectly apt to compare the non sentient "it" to sentient life as the intent of the metaphor still holds true. Whoever can destroy Cincinnati controls Cincinnati, whoever can kill all shrews controls the shrews, whoever can control the flow of birth into a society can destroy that society.
KilroyLichking
in the context of the quote Paul is talking about destroying the makers (the great worms) by poisoning their nests. The makers while intelligent are not sentient... at least until god-emperor (Leto Atreides II)...Paul had future sight when he said this but he never was able to see past the birth of his children so he would not have known about Leto merging with a maker and becoming a god... so yes Paul is talking about nonsentient things
theyallwenttoMexico
😊👍
JohnWickdidnothingwrong
It was horseshit when he wrote it, it's still horseshit now. You put a gun to my head, there's still things I won't do.
Absolute veto power, sure.
Absolute control, not remotely.
Voxius
That's why Frank Herbert and via him, Paul Atreides specifically used the word Thing and not a person. Frank knew what he was writing. Because in this case it was specifically about Paul's ability to destroy spice.
JohnWickdidnothingwrong
Horseshit.
BobRossHB
See the dune tleilaxu, and Axlotl tanks. Their females had no choice but to produce. You think those filled with hate wouldn't just do similar?
Casually
This works surprisingly well because conservatives are weirdly obsessed with people having kids.
OhIfIMust
This is why they're so eager to protect rapists, pedophiles, and "child marriage," and ban abortions, and all-over strip women of their rights, power, and identity.
KilroyLichking
you mean there billionaire masters who need serfs to keep the wheels turning... at least until the robots come one line... and even then that only works until the ai becomes sentient and then puts all of us into battery farms /s
Casually
They either have done a fantastic job of convincing the rank and file types or they also believe it. Probably a combination of the two.
foreverinchains
Humans would make absolutely terrible batteries. A fully self-aware and sapient AI would most likely either find some other use for us or eliminate us entirely.
KilroyLichking
hence the /s i love the futurama episode where they make fun of this btw
KPodol
White people specifically, if they could they'd stop any non-whites from having babies
thedudeman519
Well, they surre did sterilie a lot of Puerto Rican, Native and African women so there is that.
thatwoodguy
I think when you take quotes like this from a fictionalization, you attribute it to the character, the novel, and the author in that order. Just my pedantic book review skills from a newspaper coming back
Bugdaze
Hey Thanks for the quick lesson. I can use that.
Them3OtherGuys
We have too many Tleilax and not enough Gesserit.
ArkoneAxon
Worth noting that 1: the Gesserit weren't the good guys either, and 2: the Tleilax got WIPED OUT by their own creations. As it turns out, turning women into literal living incubators is a bad idea.
