Pure white at 50% opacity is a texture, if it didn't have one it would be bright purple.

The purple is a fallback texture used in games when the actual texture is missing. It’s purple so it’s easy to spot. Checkers = no texture.

Pink is an old school method for transparency, back in the day real alpha was expensive as it took another 8 bytes.
