Someone here said Dad might be wife beater. Maybe the blood stained roof is a metaphor for the violence that happened under that roof? Dunno

So, why not slaughter some more geese and cover the whole roof and just have a red roof...? problem solved? except for the slaughtered geese

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And that's where the common phrase "Suicidal geese gonna stain my roof with blood forever" comes from. Fun facts. Now you know.

Dad was kind of a douche, huh?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Rhis was hauntingly beautiful. I'm so glad the buried those geese.

I mean it’s well drawn

Nothing on why the geese fell out of the sky?

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

On a moonlit night water birds can mistake roofs for water. Happened a lot when I was a kid, but they never died.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The real question.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The artwork is absolutely fantastic

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The dad respected the kids for standing up to him, but wanted to teach them that choices have consequences when defying authority.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

If authority is wrong, it is morally right to defy it. Dad was being obstinate, stubborn, and impractical.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Or he didnt want dead, diseased geese rottin in his yard. They randomly fell outta the sky so they mustve been sick. Dad didnt want em round

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Which is why the boys buried the geese in the woods, not in the yard. And made a point to dig the deepest grave possible.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They probs mistook the roof for water on a moonlit night. I've had it happen at my house before.

Now THIS is true horror; Incomprehensible, ominous, subtle, with a lingering dread.

There was literally no point

Lies. Lies follow ya till the day you die if you keep them. I learned that quick when I was about 12 and quite my lying.

8 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 3

Yeah but like this is a stupid example. Oh fucking no. Some kids buried some dead geese because they felt bad for them.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

don't want to be mean, but good lies are the one easily forgotten. I've lied many times and i will lie until my death; or maybe i'm lying ;)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It says in the Koran, you should lie to your enemies. Most religious accept lying if it saves lives. Kids did no wrong.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What's the fucking lie here?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The kids did not lie. The dad was an asshole.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The lies don't bother me as much as the scars my grandfather left on my skin for telling the truth.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pft, lies are great as long as you are smart about it. But most of us aren't smart before 12 though. But late teen lies are pretty neat.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Was... was there a moral? Or a story?

8 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 4

The message was pretty clear: Clean up blood before it sets into a stain.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Pouring blood on your shingles will make them maintenance free and they'll survive until you die.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

what was the meaning?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I never understand that american "Call your dad sir" thingy. It would weird so damn awkward where I live. Like calling him king or noble.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

As much as they claim to hate aristocracy & monarchy, they sure do love being treated like lords every chance they get.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Almost zero Americans call their dads “sir”.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've never run into anyone who calls their dad"sir" unless it's a military house hold

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

These kids now know that doing the right thing isn't easy.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was odd and confusing but at least it entertained me for a few minutes

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What an incredible story. Loved it.

Lame...

Why? This is one of those short stories where the moral is "things sure did occur, boy".

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Considering blood goes brown pretty quick doesn't it?

8 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 1

Which of course is why he didn't use blood. After the rain, he painted it red. Or maybe it's just a story and meant to be symbolic *shrug*

8 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

v

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or maybe it was stained red and the blood just didnt react the way you might think.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

I'm going with symbolic. Geese usually don't fall out of the sky in groups either.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

blood stains brown, not red

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry, but the dad seemed like a real prick.

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 5

Naw, seemed like a dad from that era. Discipline and demanded respect.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 10

Yeah like he said, a prick.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

My grandfather is a dad from that era, he didn't force my uncles and aunts on to the roof to clean them for no reason 3 stories up. lmao.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 5

this is the most random fucking story ive ever read.

No. I just got it. Variation on Lady Macbeth.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's about lying and how lies never go away. I think.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Perhaps. But I could think of 10,000 other examples before i though of dead goose blood. So random.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Ive always felt like I related to it despite the fact that Ive never had brothers or a harsh Dad. Frankly, the story is nothing like my life

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Kids on roof? 99/100 mothers run outside and yell 'WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?! GET DOWN FROM THERE BEFORE YOU FALL AND BREAK YOUR NECKS!'

8 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 2

The dad seems a wife beater type, she may be scared to oppose him

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

Lol not the ones I know.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

My dad redid people's roofs...rooves? Now and then for a friend who had a company. I would help pick up fallen nails and such. Mom never

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Minded me being on the roof. And she was a worry wart about anything
