My niece, who just turned 22 yesterday, was telling me about how she remembers all the sleep overs she would have with me and my ex. We'd take them out to the store for little treats, dress up in costumes, and have little tea parties with her and her sister. Sixteen years later, and those are her favorite childhood memories. It doesn't take much to make a huge change in someone's life.
Plus it looks like she had him dress up as Red Haired Shanks (going by the wig and triple eye scar anyway) who is objectively one of the coolest and strongest mfs in the whole show. Which shows how much she appreciates him, imo.

Oda is one of the very few authors that I would like to meet. It feels like every passing year, they just kept loosening the reins and letting him be wilder and weirder. He does a great job balancing the whimsy and absurdity with heavy topics and gravitas. To me, it feels like it makes fun of the shonen genre in a different way than One Punch man or JoJo. Oda acknowledges that a lot of the shonen tropes are a bit silly and leans into it HARD.
It doesn't so much remove the filler as it fixes the absolutely dreadful pacing the anime developed over the years. The recaps and slow panning shots to tense music really took over the show, to the point where during the Dressrosa arc you could skip every other episode and miss nothing.
As a convention vendor sometimes I get these, other times I get parents who lean all the way in and get into the spirit of it even harder than the (shy) teen they're chaperoning.
Not exactly a parent, but I occasionally accompany my partner and his son to various conventions. Sometimes they're so awe-struck that I'll go introduce myself to whoever it is and then pull the boys in to introduce, ask for a picture, etc 😆. I rarely know or care who we're talking to, but I'm the extrovert and I know my job.
Not if they're miserable and likely griping about it. At that point, most kids would rather stay home than go to a convention all the joy has been stripped from because they're just being guilted over it.
They might have looked like they wanted to be somewhere else, but nothing about that said anything about griping. They can look miserable all they want as long as they don't show it to the kid. I know my parents did plenty they might not have liked but did it to support me and I love them for it. Both for the experiences and the fact the supported my interests. I've seen parents at cons who looked like they didn't want to be there, but as soon as their kid looked their way, they perked up.
