You're wasting your life with video games?!

Imgur is participating again this year with Extra Life. It's a 24 hour gaming event to raise money for Children's Miracle Network. Imgur raised $15,000 last year, and their goal this year is to raise $20,000. Children's Miracle Network raises funds through charity events and gives that money to local children's hospitals to cover the costs of care and supplies that are not covered through the child's insurance. I signed up to volunteer for this event a month ago. Just this past week I personally experienced how much of an effect such organizations have on families. Last Wednesday, I had to take my son to the ER, where he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. They kept us in the hospital for a few days and wouldn't let us go home until he had all the supplies he needs (insulin, glucose meter, lancets, test strips, etc.). He has insurance, but for some reason, his insurance wouldn't cover the test strips to check his blood sugar. He needs to have it checked at least 5 times a day, and those test strips are pretty pricey. Thanks to organizations such as Children's Miracle Network, the hospital had funds to cover the costs of all his supplies and let him go back home.
