In design it’s called a jib strut. Now you know.

That implies a tendon going over the kneecap. I'm pretty sure when i knee down, there is no tendon squeezed between ground and kneecap.
ArtemisFolly
Sitting down, lift your leg in front of you and feel up/down your leg from your kneecap. You'll feel the quadriceps and patellar tendons.
BoomBoomParrot
We have pair. Quadriceps tendon connects quadriceps to kneecap (patella) and patellar tendon connects kneecap and tibia.
In the demonstration it was easier to drag the band over the stone but if you cut it and connected it to the stone it would work the same.
DaisyfromDownunder
I kneed this.

that's why you get capped in the knee

Why not elbow caps?
Eldopaquinone
The pointy part of the elbow (olecranon process of the ulna) provides sufficient mechanical advantage.

A month ago I was very unlucky & somehow got a MRSA infection in my knee. First they stuck a giant needle behind my kneecap & pulled a (1)
Massive amount of fluid out (knee was the size of a cantaloupe!) & still had to have surgery a few hours later to clean the infection (2)
Out from my bone. It was super gnarly, I can’t believe how long your knee needs to recover! You walk around everyday of your life until (4)
You get injured. So you give your knee a 7 day break then you have to learn how to walk & exercise for weeks to get your knee (actual4)
To bend normally. It’s crazy to me. The spectrum of strength to fragility of the human body is quite amazing. Sorry this is too long!! (5)

Bro. I hear you. Both knees so many times I needed stabilization surgeries at 20 (r) and 24 (l). I’ll have fake ones by 40 doc says.
NotACop1515IsMyAgeNotACop
Think of it more like by 40 you can get robot knees. Put some gadgets in there. You can be the bronze kneecap!
Dislocation is legit the most painful thing I’ve experienced.

Same. Getting in to my car and spawn on my foot, but my foot stayed in place, my knee ended up on my thigh. WORST PAIN EVER.
s/spawn/spun/
I still get PTSD when getting in the car and I'm terrified I'll do it again.
Yeah you’re not alone dude. Before I had the surgery I used to think about it constantly. Thankfully now not so much but sometimes. /1
