I wonder if there is a single piece of wood from the original left or if everything got replaced over the years.
Naval History and Heritage Command Detachment Boston, the unit charged with overseeing Constitution’s maintenance and repair, estimates(1/2
10 to 15 percent of the ship’s fabric is composed of timber installed between 1795 and 1797. This “original” wood includes the ship’s (2/?)
keel, lower futtocks, and the deadwood at the stem and stern.

Brits heavier frigates were still softer built 32-38 gun frigs, and yanks ruled this heavy frig class with these solid-built 44 gun baddies.

What were/are they being used for. Obviously they have no real warfare benefit.

If you sink that ship it's a bomb you didn't fire at an actual warship

Remember when the teacher forced you to do math without a calculator so you could do it in your head? This is the same thing but with ships.

Schooled the Brits in war of 1812. Brits ruled with their line ships but few of their frigates could touch these American heavy frigates.
loismustdie
Brits heavier frigates were still softer built 32-38 gun frigs, and yanks ruled this heavy frig class with these solid-built 44 gun baddies.
