That's the sweepstakes. In tobermory ontario. No bodies. It sunk while being stored there. It was full of coal and not much else.

Probably sunk intentionally to help create a reef.

This is at Tobermory in Ontario, the boat was decommissioned and sunk on purpose, now it's just a tourist attraction. No exciting backstory.

I'm not calling ON boring but... nah it's still pretty sweet even without a cool story.

I thought there were multiple sunken boats there?
joeliius
There are a lot of sunken boats. Tobermory has a marine park. I've personally dove on about 6 wrecks there. It's awesome bang for your buck.
Excellent. I want to go camping there this summer. I would have been sad to learn there was just the one.
sarcastichumour
There are 2, if you take the boat cruise to Flowerpot island they take you overtop of both boats.
Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.
Take the glass bottom boat if you can, its at the Tobermory Harbour. Flowpot Island is good too!
Nice. Will do. :)
Eggbutts
Really? I don't understand why they'd not just scrap it

There are dozens of wrecks in Tober, most legitimately sunk during storms. Tobermory features a massive limestone reef formed by (1/?)
migrating glaciers. So there's huge ruts of stone outcropping. During storms ships could be tossed unto the reefs, and thus sunk. (2/?)
It makes Tober super fun to dive! But a lot of these legit crashes sit very deep in the water (the crew tried to steer off the reef (3/?)
before sinking). So over time some "shallow" wrecks have been sunk on purpose. Partly to make structure for marine life, mostly for (4/?)
Not illegal. I was on the deck of that ship last summer. The have gates up to keep you from going under the deck
Aussieausti
Man.. all the interesting shit is illegal or against the rules.. can't have any fun anymore..

It's only illegal if you get caught

Don't dead dive inside

Where?

But if you can't go inside where the dead bodies are, then the remains aren't to be seen.

Barred divers to prevent damage to the deteriorating wreck.

people get lost on ships when its on the surface and the lights are on
BeanBagKing
People get lost easily inside old wreaks, or stuck/caught on something, and run out of air.
Not illegal to dive around, just can't go inside. Exhalation bubbles may cause further damage to a fairly intact wreck
