I like this! I like it because it works outside the US, too. All of this "boomer" and "millenial" stuff is so US-specific. LotR is universal, and so is the concept of "promised wealth and adventure but finding only war and ruin".

Saying you don't like them is one thing, that's perfectly valid, but there's no need to insult them. There's plenty of music that I personally don't like, but I don't think it's shitty. Entertainment is subjective, and your subjective opinion does not apply an objective quality to the media you consume.

I think the most rational generational divide would have to be Doctor Who regenerations. There would, of course, be some confusion for people born between 1990 and 2005, so it would only be fair for people born in any of those years to choose which Doctor they identify with. People born before 1963 are lost to us. (/s obviously, dividing people into "generations" is stupid)

I think the original Rankin-Bass Hobbit was on an endless rotation on the TV when I was a kid. That and the animated Disney version of Robin Hood. Probably explains a lot.

75er here. Mine was a little later - I had chewed out a developer who kept meaning the exact same mistake, every time getting the full, patient explanation about why the way he does it is wrong, every time confirming that he understands now, and every time me getting called out of bed because he put in the exact same bug again. And then I get told that I'm supposed to just accept the utter incompetence.
So after seething for a couple days, I decided that if that's how they want it, meh.
