5 bands/artists you should be listening to

Citizen

Genre: Pop-Punk

A pretty under the radar band (or at least no one i know really listens to them or have heard of them) and they state their influences to be modern pop punk bands along with bands like Brand New.. They bring a great energy to their recordings, that along with some great lyrics and catchy choruses really makes this band likable

Volcano Choir

Genre: alternative, folky, experimental?

Volcano Choir is headed by Justin Vernon (i like to call him God but that's beside the point), Justin Vernon is the lead singer and songwriter for the band Bon Iver, also known for his work with Kanye West on his last 2 albums. he really delivers some classic tunes with Volcano Choir. Some very artistic and lyrical masterpieces, he creates some very memorable tracks just like he did with Bon Iver, Repave is a great album i think every music fan needs to hear.

Bad Books

Genre: Pop-punk, alternative

Bad Books is the side project for two of my favorite musicians, Kevin Devine and Andy Hull (Manchester Orchestra front man) they combine to make some very awesome music and if you like Kevin Devine or Manchester Orchestra or Brand New you'll love these guys

The Story So Far

Genre: pop punk

The Story So Far is probably my favorite band these days, they define pop punk. They remind me a lot of Blink182 but tend to be just a tad bit rowdier. Their catchy choruses and awesome instrumentals really bring an album together and will leave you humming all day.. Also unbelievable live (saw them open for The Wonder Years, only played a 30 minute set and it's still one of the best sets i've ever seen live to this day)

Song of Choise: (Anything really) but i chose Framework, the last song off their last album, that really brings the entire album to a close with a bang

Trevor Hall

Genre: reggae-ish

Trevor Hall is a mostly acoustic islandy type of artist who really has an amazing voice as well as an amazing outlook on life and he will just make you feel extremely happy even on your saddest day
