I’m not in support of the legislation as a whole but isn’t the cap on tips and OT and exclusion of high earners a good thing to prevent abuse? I imagine anyone who hits the cap of $25,000 who really needs tips will still greatly benefit, but it would prevent high earner bonuses being labeled as “tips” for tax evasion purposes. I feel like dems were arguing for caps on those things also for that very reason.
And there you go folks; this is EXACTLY why elections matter. Only about 30% of the Americans who could vote voted against this. The rest are active participants in the destruction of this country. If you didn't vote for Democrats in 2024, go fuck yourself.
You know the part about how millions of people will lose health care so Trumpy can spend 14 Billion on expanding his personal gestapo ICE police? Oooh, we don't want to talk about that, do we you clueless MAGA Twat Waffle.
I will pay taxes on all of those things if it means children aren't starving in the street. Christ. Why do people think taxes are a punishment? It's literally just the price tag of getting to have society. You don't want to pay taxes, fine. Don't pay them. But you don't get to use my roads or my schools or my power grid. Go live in a cabin in the woods with your miserable trad wife child bride if you can't stand taxes that badly.
also, most of the 'tax cuts' for non-millionaires/billionaires are only for a few years, so that when democrats take control again (if the USA survives) they will then be blamed for putting back taxes on tips
Plus how many people working for tipped minimum wage ($2.13 US/hour) make enough to itemize their taxes. And I heard somewhere this only applies to cash tips, not on credit card (but don't know if that is true) and if so how many tipped workers were declaring their cash tips anyway?
Like her boss, Karoline Leavitt is a compulsive liar. If you always assume that every word out of her mouth is a lie, you'll be right most of the time.
Really wish there was a legal regulation that mandated poll pool size on these graphics. "% of Americans", no "% of 200 people you presume extrapolate to 350 million".
It definitely is. A democrat gets in and suddenly it’s gone. It’s like how taxes went up for people during Biden’s term (except for the rich) because of Trump’s tax plan.
Fuck all Republicans. Even IF those provisions were in the bill, it doesn't mean the bill as a whole is good. Here's a deal; I'll give $100 to children with cancer, $100 towards the puppies & kittens welfare fund, and $100 towards elderly, disabled vets. Oh, ignore the part where if you say yes, you have to give me $1,000,000. Oh you won't say yes? Why do you hate children, puppies, kittens, the elderly, disabled, and vets? That's how stupid their argument is.
ALSO, the limits/cuts to taxes on tips and overtime EXPIRE after a few years. The tax cuts for billionaires? They don't. This is one of the GOPs favorite tricks... they do this all the time. The things they do "for the people" are always set to expire during the next Democrat presidency.
The cuts into Medicaid et al also are scheduled to happen at the start of the next presidential term. So if they lose they can blame the Democrats for everything, again.
Right. Their MO is.. if they win, let it go through. If they lose, block all attempts to pass a bill changing it before it kicks in. Then they will blame democrats for the cuts. Mark my words... if there is ever a fair election again republicans will blame every single bad thing they did on Democrats. When we find the corpses that the aligators don't eat it will be Democrats that did the genocide, per fox news. Guarantee it.
Really it is just "Big" and a "Bill". It sure ain't "Beautiful" to anyone with less than a million dollars in the bank. (And that's like 90% of Americans)

This is what they do, talk about the few things that make it seem like this Bill is so good when there are thousands of reasons why it's shit.

Also, any savings would immediately be offset by the significantly higher cost of living. Save $5 so you can spend $100.

SSA sent everyone an email that said SS won't be taxed anymore. People will believe it.

And with the cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other increases on lower tax brackets most tipped workers will see their disposable income go DOWN.
Cthulhuonabike
Disposable income? What's that?
Kotarisu
Income to be given to the rich, who then dispose of the workers.
KillingTlme
I am most concerned with all the changes to laws that were limiting Trumps power.

That's an issue that's hard to effectively convey to voters who consider themselves the "In group" and think they'll be protected from any fascism.
Impacts to personal finances tend to appeal more to voters regardless of ideology.

You know it's a bad bill when even the Fox News Poll looks shows how much people oppose it.
IHateApostrophes
23% of those polled think that they're billionaires apparently

60% claim to understand the bill? Feels very high for Fox viewers.

The “no taxes” on tips and overtime also expire in 3 years while the tax cuts for the rich are permanent.

3 years huh? I wonder what the significance of that amount of time is. Surely its unrelated to when drumpf's term is supposed to end.
Nanntuckett
