Puta Madre is another great greeting....

Yeah, it cuts off, but I've got sauce!

Hola mi corazon! Gracias por la accolade! Please have a wonderful Thursday!✨

Hola a ti tambein Imgurian! Please have an awesome weekend and know mi gusta tu!✨

He missed my favorite "Heeeeey! Pinche fucking cabron!" (disclaimer, this is actually how one of my Mexican friends greets almost everyone. That or just a head nod and "guey/buey".)

To greet a Mexican, you mean.

Years ago, one of my wife's co-workers (a young waiter at the same restaurant) went to Tijuana, got drunk, and accidentally hit a car. When the federales pulled up, he decided to greet them the way they did in a Cheech and Chong movie he once saw, hoping they would see him as a friendly person and be lenient. He threw open his arms, smiled, and said loudly "HOLA, PENDEJOS!" He got out of jail about six months later.

En Chilean we greet a friend by saying 'vete a la mierda, huevon conchetumadre!' It denotes great affection.

I only know a handful of Spanish, however I know all of these will get you fucking stabbed.

2 years ago | Likes 224 Dislikes 1

Kinda of depends on who you say it to. Your friends, or a stranger.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sure, but there isn’t a hell of a lot that won’t get you stabbed

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

What did you say?! You wanna get stabbed, ese?

I mean, he implied consent... seemed like a good idea at the time! (Source - am Latina)

Like I always say, I know just enough Spanish to order authentic tacos or get stabbed.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

damn, I could have sworn I've seen Latinos greet each other with some of these...

2 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

We do, but it’s essentially the equivalence to talking shit or a derivative term to one another. to close and really good friends. Anyone else it’s unprovoked and a response will be imminent. Most likely it will be corrective response as long as it’s believable it was truly a miss teaching we know people like to do others.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same way 2 bros greet each other in a London pub by shouting 'Oi! cunt! Get this down ya.'

2 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

As always, the key is knowing the person well enough to know how they'd respond. Don't say that shit to a stranger.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sure, if you know them, if not; it's probably stabbing-time

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I read a story once about a gringo guy who was making friends in a Mexican bar and he thought he’d be cute and tried #1… the bar went silent, the guy he was talking to took him by the arm and frog-marched him out, and said “leave and don’t come back”. It was probably fiction, but a chilling scene (disclaimer: I’m a gringo but the nanny for my kids when they were little was a wonderful lady from Guadalajara, she and her husband throw the best parties and my boys grew up with their boys ❤️)

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah, they're pretty hot-headed in latin countries (from what I've heard) and asia (from experience), so it's best to be a good little tourist/white devil and stay away from those kind of situations. I mean, it's not worth the trouble most of the time 🙂

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yeah maybe you should stay away if you’re saying an entire group of people are hot-headed. And the rest of your comment is weird too. Do better.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a certified Mexican it will only get you stabbed if you don’t know the person. Go to any Mexican birthday party and every cousin/uncle/brother/father that walks in will greet someone with one of these and joyous roar will be heard.

Chinga Tu Madre = Fuck your mother, hijo de puta = son of a bitch, vete ala chingada = fuck off, Lárgate = Get lost, Nunca vuelvas = never come back, estas cagando el palo = to shit the stick/your failing, te odio = I hate you, no te quiero mirar = I don't want to look at you. *I don't speak spanish

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

“Pinche tu madre” is acceptable.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ayyyyy!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I felt something was fuckey.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And Chinga tu Madre are fighting words. I wouldn't say them at all even if a Spanish speaker insults you unless you want a fight, especially if he has friends in earshot.

2 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

I don't know that was usually my greeting to or from the Hispanics I worked with in restaurants. Either the words or the whistle. Once they realized I knew it.

idiomatically translated, it's correct.

I mean. Puta also means bitch, cunt, slut. It’s all the same energy. Also not very nice! lol

The one I learned is kinda' long, but it goes: "Tu madre tiene queso en ellas pantalones, porque ellas estas un fea puta, y tu padre es el cucko".

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

"Your mom has cheese in they pants, because they you're an ugly slut, and your dad is the cuckoo."

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Based on 2 years of DuoLingo I can tell you that the conjugations are incorrect on some of those words

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

* "Tu madre tiene queso en sus pantalones, porque es una fea puta, y tu padre es el cuco" ... that's the right way

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is inded way to long for a greeting.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The translation was literally just, "Howdy there"
