Bears comfortable around humans are bears that get shot.

If not friend, why friend shaped?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

This is exactly how bears get killed. Coming into contact with humans is the number 1 killer of wildlife

Hopefully they don't have neighbours, because this is very disrespectful to the safety of the people who live near you. One of my neighbours used to feed bears from her back yard, and it resulted in me being unable to let my dog be in the yard. We had to contact the police, and she was charged for it.

wait untill they find out how breakable glasswindows are.

A dear, wolf, bobcat, raccoon, squirrel, multiple birds and bears. "Wildlife" where I live: pigeons and rats.

I need to build a bear pool.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Okay, i got it. If i will ever be able to have a house, never, never, never put a big bath of drinking water....

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even without the bears, this thing would need constant cleaning.

Breaking News: Local Couple Eaten By Enraged Bear They Illegally Enticed Into Their Yard.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

most likely outcome would be "Local bears put down by fish and wildlife services because family baited them into their yard"

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If you build it...they will come.

2 years ago | Likes 123 Dislikes 0

Why even have a fence if you build a bear pond?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they will bring more bears come

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats what they said when I constructed my 240V Anus Destroyer 9000. And they were right.

Why do so many people lie and say I can't pet them? If I can't pet them, explain this then!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In ponds and bird baths with steep walls, it is recommended to add a stick or log so bees can drink without drowning. It also makes a place frogs can chill out

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You want your kids to be eaten!?!? That's how you get your kids fucking eaten !

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Best thing I've seen today

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is coexistance.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bear realy liked it tooo much

The squirrels in my neighbourhood tend to trash everything we set up. Its a regular struggle to keep things clean, standing, upright, full, etc. You think we ran a daycare!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only time bears came to our garden one just took a shit and left. The last time mama bear tore down a bird feeding stand anchored into the ground. Less damage then the squirrels to honest!

I'm glad someone picked up what I was laying down lol

What, you think the family that is encouraging bears to come into their back garder might get "Timothy Treadwell"-ed?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And then, came the dragons!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

lol bears are kinda dicks. I guess I might be too if I could do whatever the fuck I wanted and get away with it

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This is like...everyone waited in line for one of the thing and some asshole came up and took a few dozen and sat on the rest.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Then brought their awful kids.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I mean... You are human and we are the top dig predators on the planet who regularly warp nature to our bidding for good and bad cuz we bloody can get away with it (we are also lured by artificial pools to goof around in)

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hmm, ya know, I get it, but I don’t think my neighbor would be happy if I broke passed their privacy fence and started swimming naked in the pool. Especially if I had my naked kids in tow. Then the general public certainly wouldn’t be happy if I mauled him to death, in front of my naked kids because he came out and tried to shoo me away. Then everyone would be even more upset when I took a shit on his front lawn for ruining my naked swimming time with my naked kids

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Point is, neither would the other bears if you were a bear

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm unsure if it's a good idea

Build a bridge and get over it. This is epic

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

normally id be like oh guys chill out but this is like... a hugely excessive amount of different animals lol

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's a bad idea, in that it makes bears more likely to encounter people, but bears just interacting with human architecture and equipment is unavoidable - we're too well established around the vast majority of bear territory to pretend we can create a "human evidence free" environment for them.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like to enjoy my back yard bear free.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fucking bear tax now!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Usually it's not a good 8dea to attract wildlife to your property.

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Especially the kind that can kill you

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

it's not.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

( i really want to pet the bears)

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This is kinda like the 'Panthers eating your face' voting joke. You invite bears to your house, they're going to do what bears do. So don't be surprised when that happens.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's a horrible idea! ....and now on my bucket list.... lol

2 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 1

As in your list of things that you'd like to do with buckets?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Going into someone's backyard and taking a dip in their pond?

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Yes

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

For real... they are getting ***WAAAAAY*** too comfortable around humans.

2 years ago | Likes 215 Dislikes 3

Perfect chance for a hug of a lifetime

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those bears are headed straight for a bad ending

2 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Honest question. If the family stays inside, and thus away from the bears, would they still be getting used to humans? I’m not sure how that works.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

That was my first question. Thank you.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Getting used to humans" means "losing fear of humans", and becomes "become bold around humans". "Humans" in this case means anything created by humans as well.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

yes, but not as quickly/severely. they're getting use to our scent, food and noises, which all acclimatizes them further. a certain extent is unavoidable due to how little territory we leave them, but this will make them more and more comfortable around such stimuli until someone is able to get to close and the cubs/mom get spooked and now fish and game has to put them down and someone is injured or dead.

2 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

I feel like it all depends on their location. Bears were already coming to the house. Maybe even hitting them all up in the neighborhood. My biggest concern would be if they had little kids that might play out there alone.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Before they were passing through, maybe briefly stopping to drink water or mess up a garden bed. Now they are bringing their cubs over, taking baths, and in general lingering; basically, getting comfortable. That is not a good thing. I love animals, I went to college for that love, but this is a case where them NOT being comfortable with humans and human spaces is not just important for our safety, but chiefly theirs.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

usually they put them down before someone gets injured based on certain behavioral shift in the bears

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Like hanging out in backyards?
