One of the most embarrassing moments I have ever had as a server. Spilled the full beer on a 2 year old girl in her pink tu tu. The parents were very kind and understanding but the kid kept staring daggers at me for the rest of their meal. Their beers were definitely on the house that day.

Know what establishment you are walking into. We are a brewery, beer is what we make money off of. you don't walk into Olive Garden and get pissed when they don;t have enchiladas, so don't walk into a BREWERY and make a scene when we don't have the wine you want

NEVER DO THIS TO A BUISINESS! we are located next to a nice hotel and they wanted space on the fly for 150 people after their convention. The only thing that made this work was that they were ready to drop several hundred dollars to rent space and we ended up giving them the patio, but our staff was absolutely not prepared for this and it was horrible to just drop in and expect service like that.

The brewery I work at specializes in German style brewing. They made a dopple bock and a triple bock and for the release the general manger decided to hire a group to do a tapping ceremony with a beer blessing. These guys showed up in dark robes with goat masks and the ceremony was very much suggestive of a satanic ritual complete with their own modified version of the lords prayer. It was really cool but definitely freaked out some of the customers

some of the bombers brought in were rare and over $100. we all got pretty sauced that night and tried some awesome brews from all over the country

Like I said I work right next to a nice convention hotel. On the same weekend that RAGBRI was passing through our area, a huge regional anime convention was also booked at the hotel. Talk about a weird clash of cultures

We use space back in the actual brewery for reserved parties. I was helping move tables around when I accidentally whacked a table into a tank and a pipe started spewing water. My manager told the owner he did it just in case it was a super expensive fix because he was in a better place to deal with that than me. Good guy

I'm less familiar with the chemistry than one of our real brewers, but all I know is a batch of our hefeweizen got tainted and went sour. The brewery couldn't sell it and just gave the packaged bottles to the staff to take home, it was awesome.

For birthdays at the brewery we will give you a fill on one of our Boots of beer on the house. It's 104 ounces of beer and I watched this guy take it down by himself in under a half hour. when I made a comment about how fast that was he looked at me like I was a pussy

I don't think i couls do your jon without becoming a full blown alcoholic. I fucking love german beer. Hefewiezen is drink of gods.

Aren't there any problems with the nice convention hotel being right next to a 'stinky' brewery?

RAGBRI? What brewery do you work at in Iowa?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I must know where the free boot of beer is located! Please OP, enlighten me!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mutha Fuckin Hofbräuhaus!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

where is your brewery?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Were you by chance working at Backpocket in Coralville? Saw the RAGBRI and anime convention mentions.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Do you work at hoffbrauh?! Cleveland or Pitt? Place is my heaven.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

as a german i laughed at "dopple bock", but can confirm the boot.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're in iowa!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ragbrai? Soooo Iowa city or DSM?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Misread that as 1040 oz. That's some impressive drinking.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I saw RAGBRI, and lots of German references. I'm guessing Iowa, since Iowa has both of those things. (I miss it dearly!)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hello fellow Iowa City resident!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

RAGBRAI?? Where in Iowa are you?????

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

NVM, read the other posts, I'm only about an hour away but haven't made it to Backpocket get. Digging the Red Knife IPA though!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At first I thought it said 1040 oz of bear and I was like how da fuq he alive after drinking 87 beers

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I upoted because I'm German. For us, #1 is a regular birthday party.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

@OP do you work at Back pocket? I love that place. I was there for Anime Iowa when the cyclists were in town. It was crazy.

Moscato isn't wine. It's fucking kool-aid.

Ignore previous comment. I know where you work!

shut up

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 8

3L squiggle 5 and a bit pints

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

~?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

the squiggle represents the term "approximately"

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"approximately" means the same as "circa"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I was taught that " ~ " when used in a historical sense was shorthand for "circa" and taught scientifically shorthand for "apx."

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The last guy was definitly german

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure the beer was on the kid, not the house.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

For non-US people, 104 oz is 3 litres. For Germans, that's 15 Kölsch / 3 Maß ;)

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

For US people, it's about 0.8 gallons.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

thats pretty much the amount required to become "beer bachelor" here in leipzig. although you have like 4 hours, not only 30 minutes.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh the stories that could be told.

10 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 1

The bar I frequent has a broken toilet in the women's room. Thanks lesbians!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

People getting too drunk and vomiting. All the time

10 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

Your username painted me a different picture than I initially had from your comment

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And should be.. More, mooooore @op

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Let me get a flight of those stories.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well, the brewery is somewhere in Iowa. My guess is... backpocket?

10 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I was wondering as well it is like a 2 hour drive from here.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

;)

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I know the anime convention that was at the same time!

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

RAGBRI was a slight give away haha

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That first one is a horrible case of alcohol abuse.

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 3

The server must have a drinking problem

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a waiter I once tipped a tray of champagne over a bride in her dress. It was her uncle's fault and she laughed it off. I felt bad though!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I had the classic of red wine and a bride. Know how you feel. Her husband took a glass off my tray while I wasnt looking. Shit feels bad man

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Parents are all "free beer, don't care"

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

"Serious beer crime, brah"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why is there a 2 year old in a brewery anyway?

10 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 7

I don't care what others do but personally - when I have kids I won't be bringing them to brewery's. That's a grown up place to have fun

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I bring my one year old daughter to breweries all the time. Lots of them even have coloring books, toys, etc for kids.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why not? It's absolutly normal in Germany to bring little kids to a brewery/Biergarten.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Many taprooms have food and free games, some also make soda in addition to beer.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

There are TONS of kid and dog friendly bars and breweries in Texas. They have board games, sand boxes, playgrounds. It's great.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We serve food, I wouldn't say we are totally kid friendly but they are allowed in and we have a game cupboard and make our own rootbeer

10 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

We have a lot of breweries here that have a restaurant part as well. So people come here for eating and sometimes bring their kids along.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The food is awesome

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude, so I totally know what brewery this is, and I totally worked there. @OP I probably freakin know you

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Maybe you can help! Iowa? I'm from Iowa! If you do figure out if it is you or maybe just pm me where you worked so i can try it

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol I've been there almost a year now we probably know each other. Going to creep on your profile and try and guess who you are

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

HEY MAN WHAT'S UP? saw your post about Bison I know who you are

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Woot Woot

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

as a person who doesn't like the taste or smell of beer (no offense!) I know why that little girl was mad. It kinda stinks if you don't like

10 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 5

to tapdance. (2/2)

10 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Well it could have been the sweetest smelling juice, you still wouldn't enjoy being drenched in it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

meh, i would much rather be drenched in grape juice, or coffee, hell even cool-aid. it really is a horrid smell to a non drinker

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, sure but you wouldn't really think "at least it's not beer", you'd probably think "I'm fucking drenched"

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

actually, I would say at least it's not beer lol

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have fun being really sticky.
