Nope it's really just like "Jinn." The D is mostly silent. Djinn are what Genies are based off of, so the same line of pronunciation.

The first time I saw the word djinn was in Patapon many years ago, and thought the 'd' was pronounced. Now I know I'm wrong.

But they're not. Gin if straightforward. Djinn has a hint of an accent to it. That D gets pronounced, it's just subtle.

Actually not. Djin is a corruption of the Arabic الجن , which has no d sound. The correct translation is jinn, jinni for singular.
