They smell bad if you are feeding them wrong. Too many people buy shitty cheap food. They shouldn't smell more than a dog or a cat.

I think most of them do smell, you can control it slightly with their diet but ya. it sucks they are cool as hell.

Also, ferrets have scent glands like skunks do, and you can have these removed. It does not get rid of day to day normal scent, but helps.
