“human, but if you leave… if you leave human, i will be *alone*!”

If you have a full-time job, you (a) don't get a dog or (b) send that dog to doggie daycare. The worst is those "after" pics where people are mad at their dog for tearing up the upholstery. Don't get me wrong: I love dogs. But dogs are pack animals. Leaving them in a flat alone all day is abject cruelty.

Put down the phone and close the door with two hands. You are making this harder than it needs to be

The pixels are gone

God, so so many videos on the Internet of just completely untrained animals. When we had dogs, they were required to get up in the morning, have breakfast, pee and play, then stay in their beds til the door had closed cos we didn't want them underfoot while we were getting ready or stopping us getting out the door in an expedient manner.

I struggle with the same thing every morning with my guy.

Even cuter than when this was posted the other day

Working from home means my furry coworker gets unlimited belly rubs, and I get zero performance reviews from HR. Productivity: questionable. Cuteness: maximum.

Call in for a sick day again.

My cats just either try to trip me or try to get the attention so I don't leave.

Can you just not leave (sad eyes)

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can't be oot and aboot if I use my snoot!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You know if you stop using your other hand to record everything you could both push the snoot and pull the door...

Such a good drama boi.

That settles it - you have to stay home

We feed our dog before we leave. Keeps her busy

Treats! My dog always gets a little gidy when I'm leaving, because she knows it means she gets a treat

Give him/her a bone or Kong as distraction then slip out.

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

I used to try and distract my pup before going somewhere. Now, there are just many extra bonus things that make her assume I'm leaviNG FOREVER AND WILL NEVER COME BACK, JUST LIKE YESTERDAY

My dog is too smart for that. She caught on after about 4 days.

Got confused because they sell energy drink called Kong here.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's actually what they were referring to, dogs can't get enough of Kong energy drink.

This is where WFH really rocks. Getting to stay home with your pets and not having to go into an office and sit in a cubicle all day

Can I stay home with your pets?

currently working (browsing imgur) with two birds sleeping on me. this is the life.

100%. I do enjoy having in-state coworkers to hang with again, but I prioritize owning a dog over in-office anything.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This. The pandemic was the best thing that ever happened to my dog. She’s my best friend and it’s awesome getting to hang out as much as we do.

After being on disability for the past 13 weeks (and loving every moment with my doggos and cats), I FINALLY landed a WFH job that I start next week!

I work from home but my office is upstairs where my dog isn't allowed. We've got a gate at the bottom of the stairs and he's figured out if he shoves his nose through the bars on the latch side, he can jimmy the gate open using his nose like a prybar.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why no dog upstairs?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hes a giant breed and still a pup. Climbing up and down stairs would be hell on his developing joints.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, this makes me sad.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Accept now he has separation anxiety when I do need to leave for the day or the evening. He's addicted now.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I tell my friends to never get 1 dog. Cats can get by alone usually, dogs are strictly social animals and suffer mentally when alone.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It can be problematic for cats as well. My boy would sit in front of the door howling for about an hour prior when I was to arrive back home. Getting two cats helps with kitties suffering from single cat syndrome.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This, especially if they're indoor cats (which they really should be anyway (though with walks, ideally)).

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My cat would murder another, unfortunately

Ever since the older dog died I have to take mine to work or to a work from home friend. He gets neurotic without being a companion to someone. Wish I could drop him off at a nursing home for doggie lap care. It would be a win win.

See if you could do something like that. Find a resident there and see if they can pet sit. You'll probably have more trouble getting the dog back out than you did getting him in there, before long.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or see if anyone at a local church does pet sitting. Often older members do it for added income.
