That’s right, while most assume plants do nothing more than mooch of solar energy intended for pale sunbathers, a small portion of plant life consumes bugs and other protozoans (read: boring microscopic things). Lets talk about the different types of traps that exist. First up is...

Pitcher Plants!

This is one of the more simple forms of hungry plants on the list. Instead of chomping down on prey, these plants produce a sticky enzyme in their base to attract bugs to the inside where they can't escape and are slowly digested.

Although t's normally flies, it appears that bees were caught for their greed this time.

SNAP TRAPS

Similar to the pitcher plant above plants with a snap-trap adaptation don't wait to see if the insect stays in. On the Venus fly trap their are small hairs on both sides of the mouth that trigger closing. Just to make sure that it doesn't close for no reason, mainly because they can't open up after closing, TWO different hairs have to be triggered for the mouth to close.

THE MO'EFFIN FLYPAPER TRAP

These are by far my favorite because they're kind of a mixture of both types above. Trying to feed on its sweat nectar, prey become stuck to the natural glue on the 'hairs' that cover the plant.

THE END IS NIGH

Over the next 3-6 hours, the prey is consumed by the leaf that rolls in on itself. After this, enzymes are released that slowly decompose the prey.
