Goodby my love. You have given me the best 156,898 kilometers i have ever driven. You have journeyed with me through -40 blizzards and across scorching deserts. We have climbed mountains and jumped potholes together.

Do not despair my love. I have not given up on you. Your knock will be fixed. i will make you better.
Stronger.
Faster.
Louder.

We will journey again.

my gf’s impreza just broke down last week. 10 years but only 110K kilometres... these cars are weak. she bought a new WRX... SMH...

That's lousy. That's like 100k in miles. I've been thrashing my car for twice that and still going strong

she has been thrashed hard, this is about average for a tuned STI.

Imagine that an STI that blew it's engine

Is that common?

its common to tune them up, and wear them out faster. mine was producing about 50hp extra for 8 years, its time had come.

I had a sweet 2.5RS for about a week. Then it blew up.

Pretty sure Subaru makes head gaskets from toilet paper.

And valve seals

I drive an old Toyota for work. Water pump went out, so timing belt went out... So, may as well get the oil and power steering pumps.

Of course, it clicked over 295k miles literally the day that happened. Everything else is so strong, and free labor, so it's worth $200...

in parts. AISIN pumps, Toyota seals, Koyo bearings, Ishino VC gasket set. If anything goes wrong with the engine after that, it's dead.

Actually the power steering pump is AC Delco remanufactured. $38 cost, with $40 core rebate....

No core charge, so I am getting paid $2 for a power steering pump.
