Every year I ruin 3 T-posts extracting them from the ground. We use them for holding up an annual sale sign. Throwing them out bothers me.

I don't actually know for certain, but I'm assuming a harder, more brittle material is more prone to fatigue and general strain.

Fencing doesn't have any dynamic forces on it and post are made of very mild steel the only risk of cracking would be during straightening
