So this is the poet Seamus Heaney's final resting place. For those of you that may not know who he is, he is an Irish Nobel Laureate with numerous works and a variety of other awards, such as the TS Eliot prize, to his name. An interesting fact about this picture in particular is that Heaney was an atheist, and as such was not buried on hallowed ground. There was a burial ceremony, however as can be seen, his plot is not within the cemetery grounds and instead is under an oak tree in the corner of the graveyard.

He visited the college where my mom worked when was a kid, just before the Nobel. I went to a dinner for him, even got to sit at his table!

That's pretty cool! He attended the primary school I went to as well as writing a poem about it. My sister also got to meet him!
