"People can't eat that much bread."

Wait hold on. He went on a date with him "last night" and it's phrased like the first but by the end of the story they're married?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Elsewhere in the comments is information that it is a literary reference.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Still a better love story than Twilight

8 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 2

Waaaaay better

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

This is a great Q&A +1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a classic ending there.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Married him right after the date, or in the morning?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

... I've eaten there.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never understand people who come all the way to NYC, which has great good everywhere, and choose to eat at fucking Olive Garden.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I currently bartend at the olive garden in grapevine tx. Shits all real. Thanks for the laugh

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Red lobster cheddar biscuits are better. Olive Garden bread sticks are like the dime a dozen whore's cheddar biscuits are the exotic ones.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes. I agree completely. But Red Lobster doesn't offer unlimited soup to go with them.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to work with Joe!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was he married? Did they do it at an Olive Garden? WAS THIS ALL A LIE?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He wasn't married, but I last saw him five years ago. He was hilarious and a great writer, though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Neat! Thanks for the answer!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

First post: "I went on a date last night..." - Last post: "I married him". All posts dated Apr 19. Moving kind of fast in that relationship.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As an Irish man, The fuck is an Olive Garden?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Take a frozen dinner from Tesco, put it on a plate, microwave it, and charge $20. That is Olive Garden.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I did not know what Olive Garden was before this post.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

whATS aN OLiVe GaRDen

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

We dont have it in australia so its kind of mysterious for me honestly.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's basically what people that have never actually been to an Italian restaurant before thinks Italian food is.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Spaghetti, lasagne and pizza?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've worked the restaurant industry for my whole worling life (including olive garden) people really loose their shit when there is no 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More free food available for them. People are rude and get really mean about it. And treat you horribly like it's your fault.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it tends to be like that in sales regardless of what the product is. Item on sale sold out?No discount bc it was the wrong ad? ANGRY!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the last pic Q&A letters are switched which was annoying

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't think it means Q&A. I think Q is one person and A is the other

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hate olives. They're fucken disgusting

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I suppose they ended up giving breadsticks to each other. Keepin’ it within the family

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Married him...after that date LAST FUCKING NIGHT? Fellas, if you're forever alone, go get a job at the fucking time square olive garden!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In college my brother + friends would hang out at Village Inn for 6+ hours doing group projects and such. Better atmosphere than their dorm.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Granted that wasn't a 3x-priced Olive Garden, but I guess in NYC you adapt to that sort of thing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A three story olive garden. In time Square. The most American thing ever.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It really is. Right next to the M&M store too...so many M&Ms

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I ate there in H.S. with a group of 20 on a saturday night. The hostess' eyes almost popped out of her head when I told her

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

4 of us got unlim. Pasta and breadsticks. They told us they ran out of bread sticks after only a few baskets. We believed them.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Something happened though where they messed up our order and the server apologized and asked if there was anything they could do to fix it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I politely asked if there was a chance we could get more breadsticks and we got them! We were happy to get more, but pissed they lied to us.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I thought I was just high and mixing it up. but no you're right. Wtf is going on here?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And vice versa

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

luckily English and context get on really well together.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but it seemed like it was just easier to name them at that point as Question guy + Answer guy, even though it was more convo than Q&A.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

I took it as Questioner and Answer-er

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So was he live tweeting this entire conversation, taking notes, or what?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As I’m reading this I’m thinking “I hope they’re still together.” Great story.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Did he give them breadsticks?" Comment of the day, right there. Signing off the internet today. Not getting better than that.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Wait so he went on the date "last night" and married him... The next day??

8 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 4

What? Why would they wait for the next day?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think "reader, I married him" is a literary reference

8 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Correct. Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë.

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

I've read it three times and I still missed it

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you for being cultured so the rest of us don't have to be

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Tbh I don't think people could eat that many breadsticks, I've had a binge eating problem for like 4 years and even I couldn't stay 1/

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

8 hours eating breadsticks, especially considering that things like bread swell in your stomach, personally that results in vomiting a 2/

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I know a 5ft 11in girl who is about 135 pounds that can eat pizza at a Cici's pizza for 6 hours. NON STOP!! She just kept eating it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We were there for a school function and the bus broke down... And it was HORRIBLY storming. They loved us being there. End Pt 2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They even made a lot of special stuff for us. Lunch then dinner. But this girl, she just kept eating the pizzas the entire time. end pt 3

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She may have been purging when she went to the BR, but when we dated later, she had no eating disorder. She just loved pizza. even Cicis.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

^^ I used to work at OG and during the endless pasta bowl promotion people would stay for hours eating pasta then vomit in the parking lot.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Carby mass, which ain't ideal for a family restaurant. I guess if you paced yourself you might but who knows I'm British not American.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Here is a good poop story. One time I didn't poop for a month and when I finally squeezed out the biggest shit I've ever seen it was 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

really painful but the sweet sweet relief afterwords was totally worth the effort plus you know I didn't die.

Woooooow haha. Drink some prune juice next time that happens!!! Thank you for your donation :)

When I was normal weight with a hyperthyroid, I could eat more bread than you've seen in the past year.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

When I was going through puberty I’d scarf down a loaf of bread a day, like 5 days a week. Didn’t know at the time but that was the best.

One of my first jobs was at an Olive Garden. Total den of debauchery. Plus all the food is shipped from Florida frozen. Yuck

Honey all restaurants are full of debauchery. If the chef ain't high on coke you're in a shit establishment.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This was off the scale compared to the many other places I waited tables.

Most chain restaurants do that I believe.

8 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

Former chain hostess can confirm. My favorite family restaurant was ruined for me after working there and seeing everything...prepared

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Only way to get consistency

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Constancy, sweet constancy

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Outback Steakhouse only gets frozen vegetables and Lamb (from New Zealand) Everything else is "fresh". Worked at one for 10 years.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Except the burgers, salads and ice tea. everything else ... maybe. yes even the sodas (That was bullshit, the soda part I mean)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I want to hear about the debauchery

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Used to date a girl that had worked there. Pasta bondage games and drunken sex all over.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think it’s in the employee handbook. I’ve worked in quite a few places and OG was by far the craziest.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So much sex and drugs. In the bathrooms, in the manager's office, late night parties. I was 18 and aged 10 years the year I was there.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

It's like any restaurant. Everyone is high and fucks eachother.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I worked in restaurants for ten years. NOTHING came close to this place.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Welcome to Shenanigans

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

GOAT!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

welcome to every restaurant ever opened in the world. YES, the world.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

hes right you know

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Happens when you combine overworked people with alcohol. So restaurants aren't the only situations. They may be the most widely known.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And in bags. That they defrost in giant boilers.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Does that mean its not shipped frozen here since I live in Florida? I am asking for a friend.

8 years ago | Likes 146 Dislikes 1

They ship it to Minnesota so that they can freeze it and then ship it to you frozen.

8 years ago | Likes 214 Dislikes 1

It all leaves a distribution center in the same form so I think it probably is.

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

It was a LONG time ago. Guess they could have changed if that helps.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, them and Red Lobster are all owned by the same group, they've let the food standards drop, and now both chains are on life support

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I used to ask for a gift card to Red Lobster for Christmas. After last year I will never eat there again. It was disgusting, even the biscuits

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Red Lobster was fine, but recently its become awful. The alfredo sauce was clearly reheated in a microwave. Local Olive Garden is (1)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

still nice. Honestly I eat a lot at Perkins (to the point where I have a usual table). Close, 24 hours, solid late night deals. It is (2)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

clearly the best option for lazy late night dining. (3)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Understood and agreed; I loved Red Lobster when I was a kid, at some point the food got nasty and I stopped going.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

We would go once a year because it's a ways from my house and always had such a long wait. I couldn't believe how bad it got after one year.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They make the soups in house daily, I believe.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You believe wrong. Worked there. Everything is shipped in bags and then defrosted.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What? I worked at an Olive Garden, they made soups every single morning. We would put them in big chill tanks for use during the day.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I worked at Olive Garden in high school. SO MUCH METH in ALL THE MANAGERS.

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

It was the early 90s so they were all on coke.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Heh, late 90s for me, so people still called it by the full "Crystal Meth"

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oh the 90s. I miss the the 90s.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Clearly they were the cultural zenith of America, and therefor the human race as a whole.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

better than in the breadsticks I guess

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Methsticks coming soon to an Olive Garden near you!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So then there was a meth to their madness!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

even the pasta? its not cooked on site/

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Pasta comes in dry, in boxes. They cook it till just under done and then portion and chill it. Then the line cooks finish it off in pans.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was the one thing they made there. They had a lady in a cage in the lobby making it all day.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That was just the noodles though. Not ravioli, etc.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Current worker, it's not made fresh.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it least cooked there?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. It's in bags uncooked. Just not made homeade.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That Alfredo sauce is from a bag, ain't it? The breadsticks frozen too? I'm just crushed

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Alfredo is done in house in huge kettles from fresh ingredients. Bread sticks come in nearly done and are finished in convection ovens.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's a lot of sauce at once, only Popeye or Thor can stir it, eh? What about the salads? LOL good times.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Big ass spatulas. I worked the salad station at times, it was bag salad mix like you can buy at the store with romaine added + toppings.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I never knew. Wow. +2 with my thanks

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No it isn't. Olive Garden is one of the better chain restaurants when it comes to making food in house. That said, if you live in the (1)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It wasn't when I worked there and my kid convinced me to go to one for the first time in 20 years recently. It was total garbage.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

midwest and expect your shrimp scampi to be fresh shrimp, you're stupid. (2)

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Worked there, and watched it all happen. Trust me when I say NOTHING is "fresh"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I worked there for four years. There's a quite a few things that are made in house.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is the alfredo sauce made in house? When I make it at home it does not keep, oils separate quickly so I always assumed it was.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Near me there's a little town that wants to build a shrimp farm. No, really. First in the US.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I mean if they can do it, more power to them.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They've got the land and everything. And apparently most shrimp is farmed with slave labor in SE Asia right now, so this'll be a step up.
