I was genuinely shocked they stuck to the $20 price point. It was originally supposed to be a dlc for the first game and spiraled into its own standalone game over years and they resisted the urge to hike the price up even as triple A games are starting to hit $70-$80. Hats off to them
Yeah, me too. Every now and then I run across a post that I have zero knowledge of. Like nothing at all. I can usually pick something up from comments and context but not this time. It feels so unreal like liminal spaces.
As someone that grew up in the 70s, i really can't understand that people today play these types of games. We didn't have much variety then, but that folks get really giddy about a platformer really is surprising to me. Don't get me wrong, people play whatever, but it feels so old to me. I installed it via Game pass and played through the intro, uninstalled and won't ever touch it again...but still, it's nice that everyone gets what they want. And i want a new great open world game. Please?
LOL, as someone who grew up in the 80's (born in 75) I LIVE for these games. To me, there are too many open world games and not ENOUGH Metroidvanias ;)
Open world games are a massive undertaking and not something a small indy can hope to create. GTA6 has cost more to make than the Burj Khalifa and taken years. Yes thats the top end but they are massive projects
I got hollow knight and Ori back when it was on sale. They are very beatifiul to look at and explore. Plus I grew up on the old Mario bros 1, 2, 3 and world. It scratches a different itch for me. Not sure if I should get silksong yet.
Very true. And it's all about taste in the end. I mean, today i have a computer built to play anything i throw at it and do i still play simple games like Balatro and Menace from the deep? Absolutely yes. :D
Because it's a well made game, with nice lore and exploration? Why... Why would it not be popular? Why would we NOT want to play these kinds of games anymore? Not everything needs to be an extraction-loot-battle-royale-FPS-PvE game.
To be perfectly clear: it's just the jumping, platforming bit that i'm not a fan of. I love dungeon diving and finding treasures and the like, but aiming for a small platform and miss because you have to aim perfectly and execute it perfectly...that part feels real stale to me.
It's a skill challenge, some people absolutely love that. It's the same with people saying "Git gud" just because you don't like having to use iframes while rolling to dodge boss attacks in DS games. But everyone enjoys games on their terms, of course.

This "release" really is the most elaborate Silkpost thus far, aint it?
Getoffmyfrigginlawn
Steam and other stores crashed when it came out.
I think it's popular.
ShadeMeadowsArt
One day the Gunlisher will join 'em in the lands known as Steam...
drw16

williamtowel
Nah the game is called princess hunter
3Davideo
So did it or did it not ship with the 12 hour lesbian sex scene?
Username62611
Hard to say, haven't finished it yet. Might not be a full 12
Leonon
If you're bad enough at beating Lace you could have 12 hours of lesbian domination and degradation.
BadPunsAplenty
My son has been geeking out about this for a year. He played for about 2 hours today and loved it. Decent price, too.

TKKain
I honestly thought it was going to cost at the very least 30 dollars. 40 at the worst.
iamthemurray
20$ is honestly a steal. They honestly could have charged whatever they wanted and people still would buy
ThingsThatDontJustifyGenocide
Meanwhile I'm sitting here waiting for the free DLC for Katana Zero, and Act 3 of The Protomen
iamthemurray
Oooh, I did not hear about dlc for katana zero
Razade
They've written Act 3 twice from what I've been told by people who worked on it. It's unlikely it's ever going to happen.
ThingsThatDontJustifyGenocide
It's been 20 years, but Hope Rides Alone
DocBenny
even now there is hope for man

I too am amazed at the sheer amount of crazy popular platformers that keep coming out endlessly

My eye twitched when I read the parent comment, with all due respect to them.

I grew up in the 1870s. I can't understand why anyone would play a card game...

Of course, that's the beauty of a diverse gaming world. 🙂
