i'm guessing the issue wasn't so much possessing the ID as he may have tried to use it as his when the cop asked him for ID

No. He got arrested for something stupid. He had his brothers i.d. because they looked so much alike. The cops arrested him AS HIS BROTHER.

His brother was 19, he was sixteen. Since they thought he was 19, they put him in the adult jail.

He went to court and got 3 days in jail and a year probation as his older brother. The older brother never ratted, has criminal record now.

Where do you go where your ID has to be scanned? Every time I've been ID'd they've just eyeballed it from my card picture
