I have also heard that they fade quickly, black stays the best and these don't tend to use as much of it

They fade as much as other tattoos but because the designs have less value contrast the fade is a lot more noticeable.

Correct. Colors are bright at the start, quickly fade and in a few years bleed and fade badly. The lighter the color, the quicker the fade1)
