Yeah, this is my car in my shop haha. I am trying to figure out if replacing the pads and rotors will fix the problem. /r/autorepair

The backside plate has big grooves in it obviously. I think the controller isn't opening the pad all the way
That's not usually how they work. Once the pressure is released the slight spring in the seals is enough to retract. Slides stuck, usually.
