Work Stories: Board Game Bar

Been thinking about adding my own work stories for a while now. Basically I work in a bar that has a board game service. After placing your food/drink order with the waitress, someone (like me) will come to your table and chat about what kind of games you like/want to play. Then we suggest something from the library of over 1600 games, bring it to the table, set it up, and show you how to play. I should mention that it's a really sweet gig, easily the best job I've ever had. That being said, it still has its fair share of shitty clients.

Everyday Annoyance 1

Look if you're at a bar, even if it's a board game bar, and don't order anything at all to drink don't expect amazing service. If you like coming here, contribute. I know there's a 5$ cover charge but that just pays for the fact that we have an entire part of the staff devoted exclusively to game explanations.

Everyday Annoyance 2

This happens A LOT. They just explain it over and over again and start sounding more and more frustrated. The sentences "You're not listening to me" and "I'm POSITIVE you have it" get thrown around a lot. It's really awkward.

This is almost as frustrating as the one above. I spend a lot of time gently explaining the difference between roleplaying games and board games.

Poor Guy

I felt so bad for the guy. He seemed really excited to play when I first came to his table. They didn't play a single game all night.

Also I'm 5'0" and this guy was over 6 feet easy and kept leaning in close and putting his arm around me. It was the most uncomfortable I've ever felt at work.
