Those are designed to allow you to rest your shotgun on your shoe between shots for trap shooting.

I do not misunderstand its purpose. It is just a bad idea. You will never convince me to rest the barrel of my weapon on any part of my body

These are actually very helpful. Used for competitive shotgun sport shooters. So you can rest your gun barrel down on your boot -

I’d say there a difference between disciplined competitive shooters with open action and weekend shooters. But yes I know what you’re saying
