So i finally decided that I needed to take control of myself and make some major changes. Today marks my 8th week of diet and exercise and I also met my first goal of 50 pounds lost. I am just excited and had to share.

Edit: So I have had a few of you ask what i have been doing. I originally started my journey to have weight loss surgery. It took me almost a year to actually schedule that appointment. They encouraged me to begin a diet in preparation. It consisted of a protein shake in the morning and one in the afternoon and a meal that was under 300 calories and under 15 carbs. Food is emotional to me, so i struggled more with my emotions more than hunger. After seeing my success and feeling confidence in my commitment. I have decided to postpone surgery for now. I

I started working out at the gym about 3 weeks ago (with my wife) and focus on 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weight lifting. It is night and day how i feel.

I also understand that when people go through so much weight loss, there can be a plateau. Don't worry, i am bracing for it. I see my dietitian next week and am setting up time for a personal trainer. If i find that i get stuck and can't move any more, then i will consider surgery again.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I will keep everyone updated. PM me if you are on FitBit and want to keep track or even challenge me!

Strong work, keep it up!

I figured that's why you were smiling. Congrats on sticking to all the hard work, you look happier too.

Start upping your cal count a little bit. It'll help you keep on the diet and avoid burnout. I've been at it a over a year and lost 100lbs.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You can even see how much your posture has improved and how proud you are. Good on you. +1

Wow... not sure how to feel about this comment. All I can do is offer some vegan lasagna

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Holy shit, suddenly, a wild delicious appears!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

won't be that delicious, it's vegan which means no cheese. Lasagna without cheese is practically criminal.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would taste that crime, I would taste it but gud.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Great job! Be proud.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keep it up! You can't imagine how much better it feels to get the weight off. Less knee and foot pain!

Good job mate. I have the opposite problem, can't gain weight :/

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I have a friend like that, he had to eat thousands of calories of peanut butter a day to gain only 10lbs... he gave up eventually

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wish I had that problem

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Don't get discouraged if the weight melting slows down, because it will, a lot. That doesn't mean you aren't making progress

10 years ago | Likes 174 Dislikes 0

Just get comfortable in the new lifestyle. you're not dieting. You're changing your habits.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yessss! This is so integral. Diets ALWAYS fail. Changed lifestyles/habits can stick.

Please don't give bullshit advice on the internet. He needs to consult his doctors if his weight loss slows down and it bothers him.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

don't assume i have not been there, have you ever lost 100 pounds?!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually have! 245 -> 138 in ~2.5 years. I did it w medical advice and lifestyle changes, not quack supplements.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ALL FAT PEOPLE HAVE HIGH ESTROGEN! you need testosterone to lose weight, if doctors know what they were talking about, why is america 66%fat

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

meanwhile I weighed myself and it turns out I don't weigh 440 pounds, I weigh 460 pounds aahahahahh I'd say kill me but I'm already doing it

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It means he's building muscle correct?

10 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 6

The normal amount you can lose when not going to extremes, is about 300-500 grams per week, which is agonizingly slow, but it's healthier.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Putting on pounds of muscle actually takes a long time, especially without intense eating/lifting. It won't negate weight loss results.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Not what I meant. But it does get harder to lose weight the closer you get to a 'normal' BMI. IANAD but I think its related to RMR

10 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

Well you know more than I do for sure so +1 for knowledge

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup. Lost my first 10kg in a month, the 20 other the following year, and the 10 last took 2 years. Took back 10kg in 6 month though.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Should go back to the gym, but I'm lazy these days. Will do, someday.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Surprised he's willing to pose for these pictures so close to a door. I'd be avoiding them at all costs.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

He lost his weight by white-walking

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Came here to Hodor

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I get the "Hodor" comment a lot. Maybe i sure use that inspiration for a halloween costume?

10 years ago | Likes 252 Dislikes 0

Just sit leaning against a door all night.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just get a box of generic bran cereal and strap that to your back

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Don't dress up. Just walk around holding the door for people.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Noooo, you mean holding the door shut for people

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Abso-fucking-lutely

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes! Do you have a tiny friend you could carry on your back? Or perhaps a doll of sorts could work

10 years ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 0

Or use a box of RasinBran. And scratch out the word Rasin.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Fuckin shit I wish I could innovate like that.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0
