Source https://www.youtube.com/shorts/0K4IcjH2vBQ . Remember it is a class war not a race war or a gender war or a lgbqt war . It always has been. And unless that guy is making 12 million a year and belongs to the 1% he is a fucking idiot to complain about using taxes for education. There is no better investment. Specifically for S.T.E.M courses I might add. I do not believe in funding art degrees or pyramid schemes like archaeology where 500 students end up competing for 1 job, and I say that as a 3d artist / 3d developer with years of professional experience. I love art. But we need engineers first to build a world where everyone can choose to be anything they want to be. Lets do that first then fund all the art we want once we have stability.

Well said congresswoman.

You lost me when you stated only the people in big money fields deserve an education

JFC I'm not even American and this is making my blood boil

Because it's so much cheaper when instead of the people owning their government, the rich own it. Moron didn't realize that those student loans were privately owned. You can buy a student loan and just collect the interest payments on it for decades. That's why these shits were so pissed about loans being forgiven. They were going to lose their gravy train. Magas like this moron bought the story about why should he have to pay for someone else's education and couldn't figure it out for himself.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's obvious with how quick he came in with "which was started by Obama" that he doesn't give a shit about anything she has to say

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Notice how he just walked out because she showed the hypocrisy of the Republicans. They love to bail out big business but are damned if they will help the little guy for a hell of a lot less money.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love how she realised he was trying to sneak in a Nazi salute when he was saying he's "up to here on taxes".

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

No she was telling other hecklers to let him talk. He was not doing a salute.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Boomer MAGA are the worst because they fought for better pay and treatment when they were younger, so they should know better. Instead they want to turn their back on social justice because it doesn't benefit them and impacts their taxes now. We used to call them the Me Generation. Selfish pricks.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I bet that guy never fought for equality a day in his life because someone that age should already know where the government is fucking us. And its not by paying teachers our taxes to have smart citizens. Trump paid 500 dollars one tax year, he is the true parasite.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And he left with his little boomer tail between his legs.

MAGA are so obsessed with Obama 😂😂😂😂

Cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias are two major skills where "conservative" Americans seem to excel brilliantly. If they could make a living doing it, they'd be billionaires.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry, but the maga people should just be shunned and told to shut the fuxk up like little Nazis. I hope they all get bone cancer

The forgiveness was 100% legal. Partisan hacks on SCOTUS had to invent standing for the assholes that didn't want it to go through. And then they doubled-down on their bullshit by invoking "major questions doctrine" (their euphemism for "while this is 100% constitutional and legal, we don't like it so get fucked").

It was one of the most plainly wrong decisions in SCOTUS history and should have resulted in several of them being drug from their homes by angry mobs.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are given candy. Small financial things to get triggered about, while they get robbed when not looking. MAGA is entirely filled with of dipshits that love fucking themselves.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Student loan forgiveness is a poor choice of words. The interest was forgiven, not the loans. Only those that had paid at least the minimum for x number of years and paid the amount of the loan itself was forgiven. The govt only lost interest on the loan and I'm totally ok with that. And it wasn't illegal, there are a number of student loan options and SCOTUS only deemed I think one or two of them as needing to stop, not all of them as this guy is proposing.

2 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 2

The fact that student loans have interest at all is disgusting. We as a society gain a massive boost to the value of our citizens being skilled and educated. If we won't pay people to get educated, we should at least not be charging extra.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Americans can't read beyond three words into any government program, else it's deemed complicated and dropped.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Fucking hell i didnt know that. Now that you mention it, paying interest on student loans is diabolical and utterly devoid of morality.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

STOP MAKING SENSE WITH YOUR "ACCURATE REPRESENTATION OF THE ISSUE"

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

This man is a gullible, uninformed idiot. There's no excuse for even having an opinion like his, where only corporations and rich should benefit from government programs. Those are two groups who pay the least in taxes, and should have the least say in how our government spends it's money, and who gets elected to serve the people. Some day, "Citizens United" will be reversed, and government "of the people, by the people, and for the people" shall be restored.

Americans capacity for ignorance is unfathomable

You and your kids may not gave go e to college, but did your doctor? What about the person who develops the software your phone uses? Or the people who designed the building you’re standing in right now?

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

MAGA: Stupid people against education.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It doesn’t matter

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Here's the thing about living in a society, sir...it's a society. We're all in it together.

Taxes go into central pots to be used on all sorts of things—and not just bailouts (though hers were great examples). People without kids in the school system still pay property taxes that fund schools and those without cars pay taxes that build roads, for example. The list goes on. But all of it, if well-managed, benefits society AS A WHOLE. Cheaper college means more doctors in your community, etc._

2 years ago | Likes 181 Dislikes 3

Yeah, but some people absolutely refuse to accept that unless it's someone they know or someone like them. It goes beyond that with the dehumanization in the rhetoric from the MAGA leaders.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's almost like the phrase, "Where we go one, we go all," is actually meaningful, but has been co-opted by bad actors because it's so obviously correct. And to be clear, qanon are the bad actors. I'm not a kook trying to sneak in craziness. I hope. How do I tell in current times?

"Look I never get off this bus at Linden I don't know why we even need to stop there. Let's put it to a vote-- see only 3 passengers voted to stop at Linden, 4 of us are getting off elsewhere, so we should just skip Linden."

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It doesn't matter if you went to college or not, bringing down the price of college BENEFITS YOU.

We shouldn't refuse to implement good programs for the future on the gripe that we didn't have those policies in the past. Sucks your college wasn't paid for, or the cost kept you away—honestly that DOES suck—but why not leave the world, and our country, just a little bit BETTER than you found it, rather than making future generations hurt just because you had to suffer hurt?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't care. I am beyond the point where I want to save people who fell for MAGA. Let them be clowns for the rest of their lives as long as they are laughed out of any position of power.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

More like deliberate ignorance of what she's saying.

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

He had to get his jab in Obama. Like motherfucker. Trump just spent 11+M to attend super bowl. Wtf no out cry for that?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But other people heard her reply

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because it comes from a dishonest place. The baseline assumption is itself wrong, and I'm glad the Congresswoman here doesn't take the bait. I always do: taxpayer money does not "pay off" student loans.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The worst part is he thinks he has his eye on the ball

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"I didn't come here to fix it, I came to be mad."

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If he's "up to here" in taxes now, he's likely in for a real shock at tax time next year.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Do not for a second believe he won’t squarely blame it on the last administration. We could be 4 terms deep into dear leader Trump and he would still find ways to say “well he just had such a mess to clean up, it’s going to take another couple terms”. This is the endemic nature of our divides. They will not admit that these are ideological fault lines that finally got tapped — empathy vs greed.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He's either stupid rich (too stupid to take advantage of tax loopholes while still being wealthy) or he just assumes the government takes 50% of his paycheck like a lot of uneducated people seem to believe because they simply won't do the math of seeing what their benefits cost + SSA/Medicare take.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He will believe what he wants to believe and will believe what other MAGAts want and tell him to believe. And I believe he's a fucking fascist idiotic ignorant asshole. That's what I believe.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hate that they can't think past their taxes and imagine what student loan forgiveness would lead to. An educated population, contributing to the economy, making innovations, having a decent quality of life. A thriving benefits everyone.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He didnt come to be convinced, he only came to voice his rage, and call out the congresswoman. But he failed since he came unprepared.

2 years ago | Likes 109 Dislikes 1

If only he had taken debate in college!

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Wouldn’t have mattered - the facts don’t exist to support his bullshit ‘argument’

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

If he was “prepared” he wouldn’t have started shit at all.

2 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

He probably didnt even hear what she had to say and if he did he didnt understand it. 54% of american read at a 6th grade or lower level. They dont understand basic concepts or analogies. They cant pick important information out of short pieces of text. More than likely he has no idea whats going on he just wants to fight and spout rhetoric he has heard other MAGA's preaching.

2 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 4

Sadly true. Imagine how dumb the average person is. Now remember half the population is even dumber than that. It's a sad slide into idiocy.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah...there's that. But I think it might simply be because she's a black women

Had this convo with a right winger at my work years ago. He was up to here with paying for ‘others’
I asked, did you drive on a well lit road to get to work? Drive by a fire station in your neighborhood? Was the street on this snowy day plowed for you?
He shut the fuck up and proceeded to vote Trump in 16 and again in 24

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

He probably does want the same things you do ... like roads, street lighting and so on. But he also does not want some of the things you think are important. So better to focus on asking him which things he does not want the government to pay for and how much that costs per year. Then ask him why amazon made 11 billion profit in 2018 but paid $0 in federal taxes and if the money could come from Amazon paying taxes would he prefer that? If he is still reluctant, then "you can't teach stupid". 1/?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In 2020, Amazon reported $20.2 billion in U.S. pre-tax income and paid $1.7 billion in federal income taxes. In 2021, Amazon reported $24.8 billion in U.S. pre-tax income and paid $2.3 billion in federal income taxes. In 2022, Amazon reported $10.8 billion in U.S. pre-tax income but paid only $0.2 billion ($200 million) in federal income taxes. Are you seeing a trend here. Because I sure as fuck am.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Tried this line of reasoning and he blathered that without business, people wouldn’t have anything to do or some obfuscation along those lines. He was a real piece of work.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Some people just require polite information as if you antagonize people like that their brains shut down. So I hope you were polite in your conversation. I just made this /gallery/I19Mj1a after reading your comment, it made me think. I hope you can share this info with other people who have open minds. Fuck that other guy if you tried and they do not listen there is not much else you can do, "you can't teach stupid"

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Businesses do not have to pay a single cent in taxes if they want to invest in people and jobs. Taxes occur after expenses like wages have been paid. If the company makes 10 million in 3 months they can hire someone immediately and pay them which will all be taken out of that profit before taxes are calculated. There are other minor arguments against against what I am saying but no really good ones. It sounds like that guy did not have an understanding of how taxes work at all.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's been brainwashed into thinking paying off student loans - the gov w/interest most loans already were paid back - is bad but believes the top 1% and top 1% of corporate America who don't pay taxes is good. MAGA ignorance.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a brit, I had no idea the forgiveness was just for interest part and not the full debt. So even your "left wing" politicians still want you to pay outrageous tuition costs. And interest is still there for everyone else. Its wild you aren't rioting.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I remember correctly it was actually supposed to be all of it not just interest, but when that was a problem it was changed to just interest. And from my understanding more often then not it's the interest preventing the peeps from paying the loan back.

2 years ago | Likes 0 Dislikes 1

Its wild to me that we arent rioting either here. We have the same problems just not quite so bad. Yet.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you hear someone say, “Don’t do that” when he raised his hand straight up? I don’t think he was trying to do the salute, but I’m happy that people are on their guard against it being “snuck” in by assholes.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They said "dont do that let him talk" i think it was Hayes actually herself . Classy lady if she did.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I also think ,"don't do that" was in response to people maybe booing or heckling him

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Gotcha. Thank you!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think he's trying to do the salute. I think he was just doing kind of like the "I've had it up to here" gesture.
