Oogie-Boogie Baby

Is this too spooky?

This is my nephew. He is two months old. For Halloween this year, my sister decided she wanted to dress herself and her four children up as characters form the Tim Burton movie Nightmare Before Christmas. She asked me if I could take the time to crochet this little guy an Oogie-Boogie costume. My boyfriend convinced me to share it with all of you. (Also, he came up with the title for the post, so I can't take credit for it.)

The Character in Question

For those of you who don't know who Oogie-Boogie is, this be him. I tried to find a pattern online to guide me, but I couldn't. At least not any that were free and as a college student, I didn't feel like paying for a pattern for something I was sure I could figure out myself.

Oogie, Sans Baby

With a little bit of back tracking and about 20 hours of work, when all is said and done, here is what I came up with. The back of the hood is buttoned on (from the inside so the buttons don't show) to allow for insertion of baby. In this picture, the costume is filled with skeins of yarn to give it a shape. Also, it is double layered to counter cold temperatures and the inner layer is single crocheted so baby doesn't get his fingers stuck.

I didn't forget the angry eyes!

At the last second (literally, she was waiting for me outside to get in the car) I decided to add the eyebrow ridges. I think they added a great character to the face. Happy Halloween Imgur!

Cat Tax

Here is my payment. This is my cat, Kitten. She lives with my parents until such time I can afford a place that allows pets that don't live in tanks. She believes she is a dog. She comes when she is called, jumps up when you pat the couch, and licks your hand if it is anywhere near her face. She doesn't always sit in this drawer, just when my mom is attempting to use it. So she is still a confirmed cat.
