Quit my job and moved to Korea: Week 3, Birthdays, Coffees, cherry blossoms and (the worst) pizzas.

Week three in Korea! Meaning I have rounded out over a month total time here including Quarantine, Pretty proud of that!

Been a strange week, I was meant to start looking for a permanent place to live but that got sidelined by some jazz at my new work that had to take the front burner.
But biggest of all was that I can now get food delivered!!

To celebrate I got some good o’l Korean Friiiiiied chicken, with all the trimmings, the chicken was very good!
The Chips/Fries where sweet, oh Lordy they where sweet and cheesey it was a mess, I also got sweet cheese covered fried hotdogs,
I have little control when it comes to ordering food especially when i think its gonna be bad, i just do it anyhow.

The reason i get up every afternoon.

This place “Art Monster” was a self service beer place, you swipe your wristband at the beer taps and poor away! (RSA says what?)
This place was good went there for my B-day the other day/week with some of my new friends, Seoul laws limit your gatherings to 4 people, handy because I only know 4 people!

Coffee, coffee coffeee, this was roughly $7aud ($5/$6usd) With a Thicc layer of sweetened earl grey tea flavoured cream on top and a strong STRONG cinnamon Turkish style coffee on the bottom,
Very good, very odd, would get again

This however was a perhaps $9aud ($7/$8 usd) cup? I got this while i was waiting to get my phone contract sorted out,
Look it was ok, but I’m pretty offended at the price, latte art was good, as was the atmosphere. But thats like ... crazy sydney prices or something. Wtf

This was a little place called ... something... its in Itaewon just off the main ro’. Aussie style place, really good, had to queue for 20 minutes in the rain for it but it tasted GOOD and the milk was silky and right, would get again. Roughly $5 aud (4usd)

“We want to give you a better life”
Hell ... I’d vote for that.

Nothing says “all is well in my life” like buying microwaveable pizza from your local convenience store, text thanks to the wonders that is goog’s translate!

That there, that is the finest microwaveable pizza $3aud can buy!
It looks substantially (and i mean substantially) better than it tasted....

BUT IT GAVE ME AN IDEA!

LETS GET SOME REAL PIZZA. Retrospect.. a deep dish cheese pizza in a country not ah ... known for its cheese, poor life choice,
Never the less common sense failed to prevail and i ordered it, roughly $18aud (16usd)

With beer everything can be ok!
Roasted chicken, amazing. Volcano Rice spicy and amazing. .... and this cheese monster, the things that look like egg yokes? Cheese cubes.
Honestly it would have been so much bettter if one of the 5 cheeses wasn’t hot runny cream cheese, dont think I’ll ever get that again. My tum tum and it didnt agree.
I tried to give it away and not even the Americans would take it! :(

Not sure if you can see a theme, but beers and chicken, at beer king this time! Ft, super sweet mayo butter sauce on the coleslaw rendering it inedible.

5am trips to get out and see the blossoms before the crowds came, the cops have shut off most of the viewing areas to slow the spread of Covid, apparently we are shaping up to have another wave so .. yay :/

I should make more of an effort when ordering, i mostly just point at things, and smile ( with my eyes i guess? wow.. do i look like a creep? .. huh )
And hope its something good i have ordered, this was pretty great!

Took the opportunity to get out of town for the weekend,

Now this was preserved / fermented foods, i was told off when i suggested that it was all kimchi, it is apparently a mix of things?
I think mostly some kind of beans? They just sit out in the weather doing their macrobiotic things,

This thing, as far as i can tell was a vacuum cleaner... for your shoes? When you walked over it, the ball bearings would depress and the vacuum would suck all the dirt off your shoes, never seen it before, 10/10 would have my shoes sucked again.

Saw a store with no Korean writing on it! Only Russian text, turned out to be a bakery! So in the vague hope that the food in there would not be sweet... I walked in and bought a few things, my gamble paid off! They where lamb and pumpkin pasty’s! This was roughly $9aud worth (7/8usd) and was really good!

Some train stations have these plants in containers connected to the air scrubbers, it makes me think that they are being used to purify the air, I should ask my mum if she knows what kind of plants these are, and probably re read that NASA clean air study...

I was absolutely delighted to find out the ring of stuff, was indeed egg and not cheese.

Marshmallow spread. Of all the things i had guessed would be the magic ingredient.. it was marshmallow spread.

Sometimes your food is on fire. Sometimes its chilled with Dry ice! Sometimes its both..

This was my first time (knowingly) eating chicken neck, it was pretty good, wouldn’t go out of my way to order it again, but it was pretty alright!
