Martingale Collars are a thing. That's what we use on our Greyhound.
Martingales won't cut it. Look at that dog again. The neck is several INCHES bigger than its head. A smaller pit/mix, yes. This is why
you see a lot of these types of dogs in a harness. The harness stays on. Even martingales do not.

In certain cultures, I know it was done so wild animals couldn't grab at dog's ears, which wolves do in rural areas.
It is still done here in the USA and is vitally important for LGD.
Most dogs who have their ears clipped are fighting other dogs so their owner can money. Not protecting sheep so their owners can make money.
Not where I live. We dont have dog fighting, but we have millions of sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, and poultry. And stock dogs and livestock
