Cutting marshmallows is easy with a pizza cutter.
I used Alton Brown’s recipe. My husband said they were incredible and we tried them toasted - they didn’t flame up and char like Jet Puff. It was awesome.
H4K1R4
They won't char till they dry out more. Use a dehydrator and they will still be soft and char better.
VanBuren43
Pure 100% Columbian marshmallows
NotmyUsername2000
I've never thought to try making my own marshmallows. We hardly even use them.
BenignAmbience
You’ll never go back to store bought.
EventidesCall
I’ve tried making those! We made orange flavored ones paired with some dark chocolate for some of the best s’mores ever!!!
Whendoestheshitshowstart
I do enjoi a marshed mallow.
capughe
Y'all really trying new things when prompted by Imgur? I feel I needed 2 weeks notice for this event.
Bananajuicejustsqueeze
I think people are taking these pics and sitting on them for days like this
ChuckZombie
I bought stuff to make marshmallows too!!!!
quietwalker
The problem is finding a good vegetarian one (no gelatin). I make them for my wife but they've only come out good once.
Supermanspants
Today I ate lots of marshmallows
Wallerwilly
I love making thoses, especially with pureed bananas or berries. Then i chocolate dip. Now i'm salivating.
papincostarica
So nice
carlthecad
I've only ever tried making Root Beer marshmallows. I didn't powder them enough after and they all stuck together.
pauldegraaf
Did this too, lots of fun! Mixing the hot stuff was a bit tricky but also satisfying!
niftypics
I don't know why, but it still annoys the crap out of me that the plant that gives them the marshmallow flavor is from a swamp.
Blud4BludGod
You mean the name? Marshmallows don't have much besides sugar and gelatin in them, the most plant material they get is some vanilla extract
niftypics
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Althaea_officinalis historically, I mean.
NyQuilDaydream
I watch a lot of cooking shows but I don't think I've ever seen homemade marshmallows
littlecheesetoes
That looks hard to snort
elbowdeepinachicken
I have a Marshmallow. I didn't make this one, but I did raise her from a day-old chick.
titaniumsnail
That's a cute fancy marshmallow chicken.
Beleg7
Homemade marshmallows are amazing. Did you try flavoring them? Peppermint and carmel are pretty good.
Sugarbritches21
Is it worth the costs of all the ingredients?
Tarelgeth
Try honey and chai tea, or lavender cardamom. We made bacon marshmallows once and gave them away at a Fur Con.
squintish
how do you do caramel flavoring of marshmallows?
Beleg7
I have no idea. Wife made them a few years ago. I'll try to remember to check with her later.
mrprogamer96
When you do be sure to post it about it.
sperk2Wrecker
They sell huge bags of these for like a dollar.
Starfury42
They sell frosting in a can but I'd rather make my own. Tastes way better.
scaryvarner
I was thinking the exact same thing
dragonherder
Real marshmallows not coated and not using artificial replacements for real sugar taste far nicer.
Kube420
You're pretty good at processing cocaine
OnlyQuotationMarkModelsQuotationMark
Almost had me fooled with calling them marshmallows! Now I know what to to tell the authorities when packing my stuff up!
FritoParadise
I did this back in culinary school, I dipped them in melted chocolate then graham cracker crumbs. S'more marshmallows
gingersnapdragon
Dear God, that sounds good
HighPriestessofSoFrickingTired
But a little char is the best!
thatsmyupvoteidontknowyou
Yes. I burn, peel off the burnt layer to eat and re burn. I can usually get 5 or 6 good chars per mallow.
TheOnlyPtylerdactyl

Lovethespam
Naw, just stick the entire thing into the flame. Burn, baby, burn!
Manse84
They'll char, but it takes a bit more time/heat. It is, however, far easier to get the superior tasting browning without overshooting.
AFrugalMoogle
Blackened is superior.
fishies55
I mean, you have to toast them a bit to warm them all the way through, but the proper finishing move is straight up lighting them on fire.
Kaesden
So like they don't go from cold to charcoal in about 3 milliseconds? Awesome!
LatrineUsedToBeShitHouse
I feel like JetPuff have kerosine in them or something the way they ignite.
dragonherder
It'd be the light dusting of corn starch that is likely to ignite on them.
clutchthepearls
Well, they're basically oil and sugar.
FrogDNA
JetPuff fuel can't melt steel marshmallows

That’s some clean looking cocaine but I don’t think it’s supposed to be cubed.
TmbgCheeseCreator
I leaned a while back that marshmallow is based on an actual plant. I’m super curious to try the natural version

Basically Ive figured out if you do the math, there's nothing stopping you from swapping like half the sugar to maple syrup. Just saying.

bloodust
How much is "3 packages unflavored gelatin" in grams or something sensible?
cpiderman
In the states, you can buy gelatin on the store shelves, Knox. I imagine just three of those. 1 box contains 4 envelopes. So that my theory.
plutonium
How many grams in one envelope? :)
Displaceyourotter
Conveniently someone asked this on this site. https://cooking.stackexchange.com/questions/35391/how-is-gelatine-sold-in-u-s-grocery-stores
plutonium
+1, thanks! I am still of the opinion that it isn't really a recipe if it doesn't state the exact weights and/or volumes of the ingredients.

Egg whites? That sounds like it would need refrigeration.

I tended to keep them there anyway, because they don’t have the preservatives commercial ones do. Should use them within a couple weeks.

corn syrup where the bloody hell am I gonna find that...

Literally every grocery store in the US.
DanOrtega
Karo "maple" syrup is actually made of corn. So there.
manolyk23
Baking isle of most supermarkets.
diregamer
You tap a corn tree, boil it down, add some sugar, good to go.
diregamer
Disclaimer: I may have made that up.
stainlessteelmohawk
Now you tell me...after I spent the last hour searching for corn trees LOL
Crawmak
Every single food product in America. So long as you want the high fructose type.
estcstbi10
This is just a grocery staple in Canada/UK. I'd go so far as to assume the entire Commonwealth
estcstbi10
Folks, I stand corrected. This product was always one of those products with the Crown on it we were told was English. Whoops. Ma bad
ThatsMySecretCapImAlwaysHorny
Not in the UK.
bane83
It most definitely is not. In Canada maybe but not Europe. Also nothing is judged measured by "the Commonwealth", except maybe netball.
estcstbi10
We definitely refer to the collection of colonized Nations where the British monarch is the head of state as the Commonwealth in convos
Ensy
Same in the US. In the baking aisle.
