#10 I always thought he figured out how to automate the jack-in/jack-out process and that's what he was actually doing when he had that one scene with Neo where he played off like he was just watching porn. That's why he was so startled when Neo "snuck up" on him.

There's that, but I also don't know where it's "firmly established" that the operator is necessary. Highly recommended or beneficial, sure. But there are very few "rules" established regarding how those phones work.

Not to mention the possibility that some element of "the matrix" actually helped. Maybe you need an Operator to jack into the matrix without being noticed, and doing so without was basically a beacon for Agent Smith.

Eh, I tend towards the simpler answer that it's just a matter of it being incredibly dangerous and stupid to do it without an operator. If (or rather, when) your main phone exit gets compromised/destroyed, then what? The only thing different about Cypher's tryst was that the machines/Smith wanted him to enter/exit unharmed.

Meh? Looks great, acting is good, but I just haven't seen anything to get me hooked. Reminds me a bit of the Dune show. Great pre-existing universe, but the show never really lives up to what it could be. I'll still finish watching it, and I'd love for it to get better and I end up being wrong about it.

I think we both misinterpreted, then. Im right there with you, too tired. I do agree four years ago would be hard pressed to be AI but damn if it doesn't look sus, but tbh that's half the fucking problem I have with AI these days.
