Going to a woodworking school in Grebbestad sweden. Here is a cabinet i made.

This was the last project of the semester. We had to make a wall hanged cabinet that had a door and a drawer of a whole french design (its the direct translation of the swedish name for it, dont know what its called it english) Its where the drawer slides on its bottom and sides, so there are is no mounting or metal.
Its made in Norweigan Mapel and valnut. Treated with 2 layers of hard wax oil.

First glueing to make the frame of the cabinet that i will later dovetail. I was really deliberate to take out the frame in a line within the plank that i got. That way the pattern along the cabinet is contious and the grain lines up. Most people will never notice this but its a nice detail for those who do.

sawing alone the line.. this is where you are either brave and saw on the line, or a bit more catious and give yourself some space that you in that case have to clean up with a chisel.

Let the chiseling begin. Leaving some material at the base lets me work without worrying about damaging the edge, and once im done i can just put my chisel in the line and then get a perfect crisp line at the base of the dovetails.

Like so. This is the first corner of the frame. Quite pleased, have some small gaps but you can hide those with some sawdust mixed with glue later.

All four corners togheter. Time to put in some shelves.

The school is big on hand tools, so we werent allowed to use a lot of the machines yet until we can show we are profficient with the hand tools. So here i am hand planing one of the shelves. Giving the shelf angles like this lets it sit tight in the frame and prevent the wood from bending later on as its locked in place in the groove it sits in.

Here im making the groove for the shelf to slide into, also at a angle 17 degrees i think it was.

Yay it fits.

A bit more work later and all the shelves are in place.

Now time to make space for the back piece, this also done with a cool little plane that i have no idea what the english name is. Here i cant plane all the way to the edge since that would damage the dovetails so i all 4 corners will have to be chiseled once the frame is glued.

Here you can see the corners still have material left in them.

Time to make the door, its really cute since its so small. Making a frame for my filling to fit into, once again a cool hand plane that let me make the cuts on the inside for the filling to fit into.

planed the edge of the filling so it would fit in the frame but at the same time be at the same thickness as the frame.

Looks like this before its glued. The space between the filling and the frame is so that the filling can swell without it cracking the frame. It sits lose in the frame and wont be glued in place, only the corners of the frame is glued.

One of the most critical stages. Glueing. The glue dries after 10 minutes of me starting to apply it to the dovetails, so in that time i have to apply it to all corners, fit the corners, get the exact same amount of pressure everywhere so all corners are 90 degrees. Which we did... Yayy.

making the drawers. Here is one of the many special hand planes again, this one allowes you to make a nice straight cut with adjustable dept and size.

cute little box. Lots of dovetails here too. Should have taken some more pictures of how i made them.. my bad.

Not that many pictures for the finishing of the project, sorry i was to exited to remember to take pictures. Here im cutting the corners to allow for the backpiece to fit.

and here its done, everything in place. Door and drawers fitted and working.
