Saved money since they didn't need to sync door and ignition locks, also you could idle the car and lock it up, so heat or AC keeps running.

Oval#1 is for passenger door, oval #2 is for driver door you got from u-pull-it, screw driver is for start.

In Australia the oval was for the boot (trunk) and the square for doors and ignition.

8 track and belts, but no mirror. I replaced the 8tr with cassette and my dad was worried cause it would no longer be "factory" lol

My dad had a key cut with the square pattern on one side, and the oval on the other side. Only one key needed, but it was unidirectional.

I think 73-81 should include some 82-85 GM vehicles. I know my mom's 84 Cutlass Supreme had the same key setup.

I've been in plenty of places where that is helpful, guest parking lots where its just stacked up cars and you need to leave your ign key.
