Cats are naturally hunters and can be very territorial. Some need a ton of exercise. Some need a lot of high shelves/rests to play on.

I let them outside now which helps a lot but it's extremely risky, animals and cars will kill your outside cat very very quickly and easily

My cat does the same, our solution: trying to play with him and give love before bed, give catnip bites from petstore (like weed for cats)
But best thing has been showing him that it is bad - so saying his name sternly and if it’s really bad taking him by scruff and spraying in

Never EVER confine a cat and then punish it. Holding and restricting a feline and then harming it or scaring it is NOT effective training
Da faq you talking about confining mate. Last time I checked spraying a cat with water and letting him lick himself calm isn’t harm. Gtfo
Scruffing or holding onto a cat while punishing it at the same time will be considered confinement to the cat.
