It's called a Geneva Drive and is used in analog film projectors to transport the film reel past the lamp one frame at a time. (1/2)

I believe it's pills, or some other tablet-like product. Looks like it's extruding some material and then pressing it into discs.

It doesn't really represent pi. In unit circle (radius = 1), the circumference is 2pi, not pi (r=.5). Gif is correct, but is misleading.

It's not entirely correct though. The spark plugs doesn't ignite at the same time, the lower one ignites a fraction of a second earlier.

I think you're referring to a different photo, the rx8 has a Wankel Engine, it's pictured directly after the traditional rotary engine.

To put it simply, the 2.4 comes from it being in between 2.4 and 2.5. Then on the bottom scale, the first line that lines up with a line 1/2

on the top scale shows you the hundredths of a cm. It's usually hard to distinguish so most workshops will have a magnifying glass 2/2
