OP might have saved his friends life

The funny thing is, the only reason i know that face about bruising is because years ago i watched a Charlie Brown special that deals with child cancer and they mention that fact in it. Guess I have Mr Charles M. Schultz to thank for potentially saving my friends life.

Well done. Lost my mom to leukaemia. You saved her and her family from a devastating journey.

Sorry for your loss

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Also this was the first symptom for my sister when she got leukemia, the rest of it is a very sad sad story...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is amazing, awful that it turned out to be cancer, but is great that it was caught early.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Just what every chronic hypochondriac wants to read. Thanks a lot.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So wait...she had leukemia all along? Or she recently contracted bruising?

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

My girlfriend bruises easily, I've asked her to get tested. Thanks OP

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You're welcome, it's probably nothing for your GF but it's always prudent to check. Let me know how it goes :) (if that's not too wierd)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Charlie Brown WTF.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And that's why they do awareness campaigns! Good for you!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sometimes it's worth speaking up.... or remain polite, say nothing and watch your enemies die one by one

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a joke I mention lupus to my aunts doctor who can't figure out what's wrong with her. It's lupus. Thank you years of watching house.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

its not House if Lupus wasn't mentioned once per episode!

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sarcoidosis anyone?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dude! (or ladyDude) I have been on the lookout for years because of that Charlie brown special! Hopefully no one I know will ever get it!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There was a Charlie brown special about leukemia?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Look up "Why Charlie Brown Why"

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, that worked out nicely. Happy accidents are still happy. : )

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

9 years ago | Likes 771 Dislikes 14

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How do you know @OP doesn't wear a cape?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That wobble at the end

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How can you be sure he's not wearing a cape?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I read this as "not all horses wear capes" and I kinda wish they did.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some wear yellow shirts with a black zigzag stripe on them

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or pants

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some do..

9 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 2

Whatever this is, it is magical

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

God that thing gets better the longer you watch it!

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Why does it go on for so long? XD

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is...this is.... Well, I'm not sure what this is. But have an up vote.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I went from c: to :c and back again so fast. Phew.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really deserve all the upvotes

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

...I'm choosing to believe you cause that's awesome

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh and yeah it's Schulz

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Apologies.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No worries it's a common mistake

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, always get happy when I see Charlie Brown on fp

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Schulz?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you really?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She should buy you pizza one night @op.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It was called "Why, Charlie Brown, why?" And it was super depressing. My parents had it on a tape before cool runnings.

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

This comment was a roller coaster of emotion.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On the bright side, you had Cool Runnings to cheer you up afterwards! Feel da rhythm feel da rhyme

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Look out Charles, its Leukemia time!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I miss having VHS tapes of several movies. My grandma had the best ones.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes! We had one of the 3 Amigos taped off the tv, followed by Howard the Duck.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey, @op. I just wanted to stop by and say that I hope your friend is still doing well. You might have very well saved that persons life.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

thank you for your kind words. unfortunately the cancer came back so she's in treatment as we speak, we're all staying strong for her

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

(1/2) I am sorry too hear that. It takes a great amount of strength to stay strong during immensely hard times such as these. Like her,

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

(2/2) you are a very strong person. She is very lucky to have such caring person in her life. I truly hope the best for all of you.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I remember that Charlie Brown special. It made me sad.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Uhhhhhh I bruise easily and now I'm freaked the fuck out

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Never hurts to get checked out. I know fair-skinned people bruise easily, though. Mainly because I am fair-skinned.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

its normally only a problem if you didn't use to bruise easily but now you do (and extensively)

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

only normally a problem if you bruised normally before, but now you bruise a lot/very easily

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My sister was diagnosed after she hung upside down from a tree and the insides of her knees were already bruised when she climbed down.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was 08. It was a miserable few years, but she's fine now.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Chill dude, remember this place can be like webmd. Still go to a doctor.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's very fortuitous.

9 years ago | Likes 164 Dislikes 2

I like that word, where were you 10 hours ago when I was doing my college essay. Fuck sake.

9 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 5

One would require a juxtaposition of your timelines to know for sure.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

yeah especially since I know several people who bruise easily but do not have leukemia

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Perhaps even serendipitous.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Indubitably

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or not, since that's exactly why they make those specials. Its makers would smile knowing it worked.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There is actually a bacteria called mycobacterium fortuitous. It's very fitting for it's name.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was "fortuitous" the word of the day?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nope, but serendipity is.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...I bruise easily. So does one of my sisters, and cancer has hit every generation of my family.. guess we should go see a doctor soon.

9 years ago | Likes 3407 Dislikes 11

So be gentle, when you handle me.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes! I was looking for this.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You should tell cancer to stop hitting you. You bruise easily.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One year later, hope you got checked and everything is ok. If you didn't get checked, this is a reminder.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it can also just be caused by anemia/very pale skin in general. still worth going to a doctor about it

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I am indeed SUPER pale.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can confirm very pale skin and a lot of bruising do go together.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Easy bruising would be an indication of platelet, not prbc disorder. Anyways, just go see your doctor if you are concerned.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can't confirm, I am a gingerbearded super white guy. I don't bruise easy at all. If I bruise I have to check for a broken bone.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You might be a viking.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do like axes

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All the ladies in my family bruise like peaches and bleed like piggies, so it can also be a sign of badly coagulating blood.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I bruise easily but I drink a lot and fall on my icy driveway.. I hope I'm ok but couldn't tell ya I'm on the bottom of my driveway

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

I think you might have an issue, sir

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

Not a sir and it's a joke ma'am

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I was playing along with your joke, have a cookie or something

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Nah think I'll have beer instead cheers mate!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It seems you are also without pants. Hope you're not too cold.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They're at the end of the street.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ha! Thanks! You saved the day ;)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well, now I'm anxious as I bruise super easily too. Does anyone know what test this would show on? I had a bunch of blood tests recently 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

so if I could avoid going to the doctors again and put my mind at ease that'd be great 2/2.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have immune thrombocytopenia, which is just low platelets. A CBC screen will id low platelets, tho more tests needed to confirm cause.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks everyone! WBC and Platelets are dead on normal, RBC and Hemoglobin a lil low but probably unrelated; weight off my shoulders :)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

(immune thrombocytopenia = bruise easily, potential hemmorhage/slow to clot, etc. I get nosebleeds a lot and need tests before surgery, etc)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Probably a CBC- complete blood count. Any change in the composition or number of white blood cells would indicate infection or cancer.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can confirm.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ehlers Danlos?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can practically hit me with a hammer and I won't bruise. But in your case a doctor Bill is better than death?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haven't bruised since I was under 11 6+ years ago

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think you're a peach.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I could very well be.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Doctor: "Good news! It turns out that you're just a lame-ass fuckin' wimp lmao, get the fuck out nerd." (Seriously though, best of luck.)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Symptoms does not mean causation. You can bleed from your mouth and not have lung cancer as well, but it's still a symptom of it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's to mean: You don't have to worry, easy bruising doesn't have to mean anything, but get yourself checked out just in case.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's also a symptom of anemia.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Easy bruising can be a symptom for a lot of stuff, also harmless things. But better safe than sorry!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stay hydrated too! Water is life.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Change your socks!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Be like the nature of water. * Bruce Lee

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can also be side effect of meds or vitamin deficiencies.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I bruise easily like my motherside, but cancer is not common in my family, and in the one occurrence it wasn't aggressive...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

please do. Just in case.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please do. Best of wishes to you and your sisters. <3

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It could be von Willebrand disease. Very common, usually harmless and easily tested.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Worst case scenario, you waste an afternoon. Best case scenario, you get new FP material for imgur. Oh and you beat cancer.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I'd say that the wasted afternoon would be the best scenario here

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But that's an afternoon I could have spent masturbating.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Elderly people that don't die of heart disease, die of cancer. Be worried if the same KIND of cancer runs in the family, e.g. Breast, colon

9 years ago | Likes 110 Dislikes 1

You might as well get checked (if you don't have to worry about costs)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

men and women on my mothers side all seem to get breast cancer, so my doctor has been doing bi yearly testing since i was 16.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's usually a different kind of cancer, but around half the people in my family were young when diagnosed.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe you guys have something genetic that messes with the cancer defenses (I'm not sure that exists, but wouldn't surprise me if it did) :/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There is. There is a type of white blood cell that helps eat cancer cells

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, I know there are defenses, not sure if there are genetic conditions that hinders them though!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This. My family is doomed. Both sides, death by colon cancer. Or sepsis from cancer.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Get your colonoscopy every 5 years and start before age 50. Colon cancer is very treatable!!

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Hence why Steve Jobs was an idiot

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Recommendation for 1st colonoscopy is 10 years before a first degree relative was diagnosed with colon cancer or had abnormal scope.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Maybe don't have a kid

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not planning on it :) Relatives with it didn't know until very late in age... so until recently we didnt know it was on both sides.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Isn't heart disease a cancer of the heart?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

No. Cancer: uncontrolled cell growth. Heart disease: heart can't pump blood efficiently (usually b/c of blocked blood vessels).

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My parents and aunt and uncle have it. I just assume that's how I'll die.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

God willing they just snow me.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't know why that's considered putting your foot in your mouth but good job!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Cause the other nine out of ten times I'd have just really worried her for no reason. I just got lucky, or unlucky I guess

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Charlie Brown dealt with child cancer? What the fuck. I thought those comments about it being depressing were a joke not commentary!

9 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

You've never seen the older Peanuts strips, have you? This was the very first one ever:

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

while I watched it I did not expect a Charlie Brown animation to go that way. It's the first time a cartoon character had cancer.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That was my first thought too. Seriously? Wow.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Charles Schulz suffered from depression and his cartoon world view reflects that.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Single motherhood too.

yeah man, episode is called Why Charlie Brown Why, it's on youtube
