Taco Tuesday.

Fish tacos I made at home.
Cole slaw and pickled onions with avocado and lime. And of course. A nice brew to top it off.

This pleases me

Upvote x 2 fish tacos AND Sierra Nevada PaleAle !

You need a finer slice on those cuts

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You should try adding some spicy aioli. A local restaurant does that with a similar recipe and it's fucking awesome.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll have to try that

As a Mexican, those tortillas look hard AF

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I grilled them. I wanted them a little crunchy. But they were good still.

Fish tacos are an affront to EVERY GOD MANKIND HAS EVER CONCEIVED, plus a few new ones.

Fish tacos are my favorite tacos!! With avocado and everything... I'm coming over.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And a good beer to wash it down!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Come right over. I can make some more.

Doesn't pale ale have like a 15% alcohol content?

Maybe it depends on the particular brew. I remember grabbing some 15+ pale ale for some steak and ale pie I made.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That'd be pretty rare. Most high-proof double IPA's are in the 9-11 range.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The recipe actually suggested 20%. They aren't very common in the US

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you sure you're not confusing ABV and proof? 15-20 proof would be 7.5%-10%ABV, which is normal-to-highish for pale ales. I've never 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea. It's like 6%.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Soo...would it be sacrilege to use one of your better varieties of pre-cooked battered fish for these? Hungry and lazy

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not really. I just had tilapia at hand. Just make sure it's wild caught fish. It's better with mahi mahi or even catfish.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just out of interest why do you say to use wild caught fish?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because farm raised tilapia is usually weird tasting because of what their fed

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The only tilapia you're ever has was farmed.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless you fished then would yourself you did not get wild caught tilapia. All tilapia that's sold to consumers is farmed.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I meant wild caught fish. ( tilapia is all I had readily available) but I meant to say fish in general.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Washes down well with that Sierra Nevada pale ale.

Es kaka! I'm not much of an IPA guy though ;)

Agree with you sir.

Agree with you sir.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

But that's a pale ale. Not the IPA

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That is true. I had one a few years back though and I remember it being pretty hoppy. Maybe I'll try it again

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's a good hoppy

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every beer is an acquired taste, imo. Even gateway beers like Bud Light and Blue Moon.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks good. What kind of fish?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ding ding ding.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Usually (99% of the time) Tilapia or Ahi Tuna

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks like tilapia

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks. It's tilapia. All I had but made these before with catfish and mahi mahi-mahi and tastes great.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

I beg to differ

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Fish so nice, we say it thrice!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Talipia with salsa Verde is bombass tacos still +1

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

If fish tacos are your thing and you have access to a grill, DO WHAT I DO: put the fish in a Ziploc bag along with a diced serrano chile 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds good. I'll have to try it this summer on the grill.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the juice of one lime and a bit of tequila or mezcal (enough for contact with all the fish). Refrigerate for 2 hours before grilling 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Milder fishes (cod, tilapia, or even scallops) use tequila, but more robust fishes benefit from the smokiness of the mezcal.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah beat me to it

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mahi mahi-mahi, for when mahi-mahi isn't mahi enough.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I just realized I put an extra mahi in there. Ha ha.
