Ash is a good pick for bows too, it splits into staves really nicely, also easier and cheaper than hickory to get

Thats where i started too!!! My first bow was pvc. Couldnt include it though cause it broke ages ago. Pvc is quite usable

Any advice on that? I've acquired a lot of yew that is just trying in my garage atm, and really wanna make a bow.

akki has better advice, just watch the grain, and pine or oak is better for a first try, less heart break when you snap it tillering
